I'm pleased to announce our next short story contest here at writingforums.org. This contest is our largest yet in the aspects of word count (from max of 5,000 to 7,000 words) and in the size of the prize (from $25 to $100). In this contest you must write about the protagonist of the story who must give up his life for someone else. Try to focus your story on building the character of the main characters in this story. This short story can be in any genre. Requirements: All short story entries must be between 700 and 7,000 words All entries must be submitted by October 22th at 11pm Central Standard Time. Prize: The winner of this short story contest will receive a $100 prize. This prize can be claimed either via paypal or through a virtual amazon.com gift card. All entries will be read. If there are less than 20 entries, all entries will be placed in a voting poll. If there are more than 20 entries, the top ten will be selected by myself and placed in a voting booth. Once the top ten entries have been selected, each member can vote on the story they think is the best. Each person may vote once. One vote and one submission per person only. To enter, create a new thread in this forum. I'm always open to suggestions. If you have any questions, just ask. Edit: A few people have asked if the person has to actually die. While this was my original intent, I'm going to say no. They don't have to die - but if they don't, try to concentrate on the concept that there are things worse than death. Also, for a few that have asked, the main character doesn't have to be human.
