    RRS Feed to Google Reader

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by teacherayala, Apr 21, 2011.

Tried to RRS the Crime and Thriller short stories into my Google Reader today only to get a message basically saying "file not found." Anything I may be doing wrong? I pushed the "Google Button," selected google reader, signed into my account to no avail.

Maybe Google can't read the thread because it's closed to non-members? In that case, it's not enough that you are signed in; Google needs your user name and password on WritingForums too.

Have you tried subscribing to an open sub-forum?

I have no problem using Google Reader. Maybe something went wrong when you subscribed to it? Check the link

"Google needs your user name and password on WritingForums too."

I'm not sure what this means. How would I go about proving to Google that I'm a member so that it will let me have RSS feeds to my Google reader? The email address attached to this account is the same one for my Google reader. Is there a special "options" or something that I need to mess around with?

"Have you tried subscribing to an open sub-forum?"
Such as...? I have access to the Crime and Thriller forum when I'm logged on. Which ones are open sub-forums? Sorry if I sound completely ignorant. I'm a learned techie, which means that I don't come by it naturally, but through asking a lot of questions, exploring and educating myself.

There shouldn't be anything you need to "mess with." Do you have your username/password for WF saved so you don't have to log in?

Nope. How do I do this? Is there a little box to check?

Yes. Log out and when you log back in check the "Remember Me" box.

If not, I can share it with you through my Gmail account.

Or you can add the subscriptions manually.

"The feed being requested cannot be found," it says on my Google Reader. I clicked the "remember me" box, and I changed my forum password to match my email password, and it's still not going through.... ideas?

Make sure you're logged in to both Google Reader and WF, then click "Add a subscription"
Right click and "Copy link address" of the [+ Google] button you want to add(since I assume you already tried just clicking it). Paste it in the Add subscription box that appeared in Google Reader, click add.
