    Word Applications

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by dushechka, Oct 1, 2007.

I'm not entirely sure where I should put this.. so I figured General would do (move if applicable).

    Anyway, my question is-
What applications do you use to type up your work? The standard notepad? Microsoft Word?

I'm currently using a nifty app called Scrivener. I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Especially how you can go full screen, which darkens everything except for where you're writing. That helps me concentrate.
If I'm not using that, I'm using the standard Mac version of Microsoft Word. I greatly enjoy that as well. It's very candy like.

I use microsoft mainly. Although for some things I actually use a notebook styled program as it makes it easier to transfer the files over to a certain thing that I have to do every so often. I won't go into that :D

    Haha, well demonstrated!

Anyway, I use MS word, but I try to capitalize and punctuate where applicable, and correct words myself rather than use spellcheck.

The Thesauraus, dictionary and synonym functions are pretty cool and helpful. MS word and I still argue about some stuff, like the spelling of colour, and some peoples names that it thinks shouldn't be capitalized.

    Definitely agree with that.

I love the Thesaurus in Word, not to mention it's waaay better than AppleWorks'.

I'm surprised by how much I like and enjoy MS, considering it is a Microsoft product. =]

I usually use MS word... although I argue with it way too much.

    Open Office.

I don't use it because it's free--I use it because it's the best word processor around. It does everything Word does and more.

ms word for everything but scripts, which i do with final draft [the best formatting program for tv/stage/film scripts]... i don't think anything works better for writers of anything else, than ms word and, since that's the 'lingua franca' of agents and publishers, it only makes sense to use it, if you want to be published...
