    Prologues set in the future

Discussion in 'Discussion of Published Works' started by David K. Thomasson, Jan 15, 2014.

I'm looking for books with prologues set in the future, just to see how different writers have handled them. Someone mentioned The Last Song as an example. Do you know of other titles?

VS Naipaul's "A House for Mr. Biswas" pretty much gave the ending away right in the beginning. It takes a lot of skill to pull that off, I think.

Frank Herbert's God Emperor of Dune starts with a museum tour discussing artifacts that are part of the subsequent story that takes place well before the tour; hence, the artifacts are... artifacts. :)

Soul Music by Terry Pratchett has a prologue that is set right near the end of the book, but that's not to say it takes away one jot of the suspense and storyline.

Doors Open by Ian Rankin is another good example. It's not really a prologue, per se, but rather a section of the near-ending of the story lifted out and put at the front. Guess it makes you want to read on.
