well, my university had a small issue, namely an exploding transformer, that caused some power issues (predominantly in the teaching buildings) and knocked out the internet, the reason why I am happy? i got some more writing done, however, seven hours later, they've fixed it. and I have more to my novel...

I'm kicking ass in my novella. :D I have:

    • 2,400 words so far.

    • A clear beginning and ending.

    • An interesting set of protagonists and a clear antagonist.

    • Character arcs for my two protagonists.

    • I can actually show the cultures and the world I've created.

It's... I just love this novella. I love this piece I'm writing. It may blossom out to a novel, who knows, but I just love this story! For the first time ever I actually feel like a writer! Not just a struggling wanna-be who keeps doing the same thing over and over again wondering why he's not getting anywhere.

    I FEEL LIKE A WRITER!

Thank you, @Lewdog . Your random desire to have a sexy, ginger-headed badass female character had inspired me to create such a character...and this entire novella followed suit. Be proud, man.

Now you just have to get @Jack Asher to draw a sexy picture of her for the cover!

I hope this isn't your new hiring technique, it might get you a sexual harassment lawsuit!

I've just watched an old public information film from twenty-five years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday. It featured a father involved with paramilitaries getting a visit from his son while in prison. The film was very graphic; one bit showed a lone gunman entering a pub with an AK and spraying all round him, another of him planting a bomb. Presumably these were the father's crimes. The film used 'Cat's in the Cradle' as the soundtrack and the message was clear enough—Don't make bigots and criminals of your children.

So, why am I happy you might ask? Because my grandson isn't growing up in the environment I did.

Passed all my classes last semester, the first week of the new semester is done, the new classes are excellent and I feel refreshed and ready.

I got a financial aid return check and I'm getting my tax return within the next month or so.

I bought a plane ticket, finally, to go back to Orlando to see my best friend before her stay in the Disney College Program is over.

I FINISHED DARK TOWER I AND STARTED DARK TOWER II, MOST IMPORTANTLY!

Overall it's been a good week.

Next weekend I'm going to go down to Knoxville and do a little shopping. I booked a hotel room for Saturday, so after shopping I can go get a few drinks and get something good to eat without having to drive home.

If anyone is from Knoxville or has been there before, I'd like some good suggestions on a good wing joint to go to. There is a Hooters by the hotel I'm staying at, but I'd prefer to try a place I've never been to before.

Happiness doesn't begin to describe the way I feel after finally dumping my crappy AT&T DSL service for Internet from the cable company. More than five times the speed for less than half the price. Eat it, AT&T. Eat it raw.

Just got a notification that the next novel from my favourite author, Bujold, will be released about a month early! YEAH! :cheerleader:

I have preordered it as soon as I became aware that a new novel is waiting to be released (about 5 months ago), and I was expecting another month more waiting. So... end of next week I will disappear off the face of the internet and the earth for a day or two while I relish new words from the -for me- greatest author of all times. :brb:

    ^ Sounds nice! :D

Well, after some trial and error, I figured out how to get my disabled MC from my mystery-fantasy to go from the stereotypical 'Whaa feel sorry for me because I'm disabled!' to a snarker who drops some dark humor whenever she finds the opportunity, but she generally goes through life like a game of chance. :D Awesome for me, and awesome for that story.

Well the NFL is getting what it wanted. Peyton Manning overcoming the odds against a favored opponent to win a Super Bowl championship and then he can retire after the game.

Received a surprise return card from someone who I thought had forgotten about me. Also managed to snag some pastries at the bakery near closing time in a 3 for 1 deal. These small uplifting things are so important. I'm grateful to have them after a hellish week.

Edit: I think there might be some cosmic influence working. I went browsing in the library for new reading material and came across a book that I am waitlisted for. I was at least the 60th in line (!) and now I have it at home.

My mind is usually chaotic. When it decides to grace me with an image, it's either senseless, terrifying, or sad. Sometimes, though, I get a beautiful image in my head that I just have to pause and smile about.

The image? My fantasy MC as an infant being cradled and cuddled by her mother/adoptive mother.

So cute, so adorable that I wish I had more skills than MS Paint to draw it because I'd love to share that with everyone.

Just finished "Joyland" by Stephen king. While part of me is left left with a sense of happiness and fulfillment that comes with finishing a novel, part of me wants to post this in the unhappy thread for knowing that I can never truly experience what one of the MC's did, not anymore anyway. that part of my life is over with and spent and for as far as I can remember, wasted. but the end of one novel means the beginning of another and another and another.
