I recognized the names I just haven't seen anything they've been in. Do I still get points? LOL. I have yet to even watch Heroes. And the only Star Trek series I watch is Voyager. I mean no I don't.
I find it odd that most people I've seen complaining about a generalization bring one into the conversation. Seriously, how many times have people pulled out Hot Wheels on you? and just what was being said anyway? Careful how you use your words, from one writer to another... Yeah, Solaris, I keep seeing this ad too: So... will the answer surprise anyone if it's a man having sex with his man?
Adamant who was the first part of your post directed to? o.o; And haha yeah I found it a funny coincidence that that ad was popping up. Unless it's one of those things where the ad's pertain to what the topic is about. Which is probably what it is.
You probably have hit the mark. Its probably one of those adds that goes with the topic. But I think the add is a little extreme for what we are talking about. I remember when I wrote a story I neuroscience and add of neuroscience kept popping up, this was at school though.
Lol yeah that ad is kind of 'in your face'. And I don't have a man so why would he be gay? THANK YOU FOR RUBBING IT IN. Stupid ad. Haha.
I agree with the theory in the OP, but I do think some homosexual guys go overboard with the high-pitched, bright, animated way they carry themselves.... I feel the exact same way for any women that happen to naturally be that girly. It just bugs. I remember in high school there was this one gay boy who was so annoying with how he carried himself. It was embarrassing, if you ask me, for the other gay students at the school (I know because I was friends with a few of them). He was very Perez Hilton-ish, probably worse, and he bore a small resemblance too, eurgh. I have met so many that contradict the stereotype, and usually those are the one's I get on best with.
Exactly this topic isn't about affairs. This is about peoples view on homo people. They should have a softer add. *add*Are you gay? Take this test and we will see if your are gay!*end of add*
I agree inkslinger, it gets a bit on my nerves when girls act that way as well. But mainly because the girls that 'act' that way are normally really immature and stuck up. I'm not so fond of that.
Yessss, definitely! I run into them all of the time... while at work, when in the mall, inside Barnes & Noble, on the street, sometimes I think they're everywhere. /paranoid glance
You're forgetting Raymond Burr's most important role! In the Americanized version of Gojira (aka Godzilla) and in the bad Godzilla 1984. ^Sorry about that by the way. I just had to say it. And I didn't realize that Raymond Burr was homosexual. He certainly wasn't one of those ridiculous stereo-types like the ones in Adam Sandler movies.
Did you know that: Spoiler Dumbledore's gay! Yeah, I didn't notice either. What a cop out! I mean, if you're going to do it to take a stand for tolerance, why execute it in such a way that people would only notice if you slipped them a frank post-it or made the declaration in Carnegie Hall? Don't just tell us, Rowling, show us. Of course, it shouldn't be pornographically overt -- and, as discussed, better not be "queenly". I suppose, in that case, attributing such orientation to the eminence grise is ... convenient. Of course, I judge without having published enough books to live in a castle-- or even without having written a cliche-free homosexual character I can be proud of-- myself. I'm working on it, though. And it's difficult. As enlightened as I want to be, the Implicit Prejudice Programming is really deep. I know it's narratively overdone that in a fictional homosexual relationship, one must die while the other becomes or is revealed to be evil-- so I avoid that. But, I've noticed "gender specializing" cropping up in the story, which is bad because how annoying must it be for a homosexual couple to be frequently asked "Who's the man/woman?" from otherwise tolerant people who still assume that between any two people in a romantic relationship, the polarized gender-specializing "domestic, primary care-giver" / "technical, monetary wage-earner" division of labor still applies. But then even at an emotional level, one of my characters is evasively mild about everything and lonely (even though the social structure doesn't support that she'd take on such defenses because she's gay) -- as the other becomes increasingly predatory (the butch, of course.) Gnuuh, I'm such a subconscious bigot! And asexual.
Haha this is oddly like a "Mythbusters" episode. Everyone making random hypothesis and stuff I'm straight, but seriously, who isn't a little gay for Brad Pitt
Holy hell. o_o Wow, I never would have guessed that reading those books. I always wondered why Dumbledore was so fond of Harry LOL. I think her mentioning she thought of him is homosexual is kind of... irrelevant. If he were going to be - like Palimpsest said - at least make some notice of it or bring it out into the open. Seeing as a character isn't a real person... and so if you keep something about them hidden, than well it just isn't a part of them. The more I think about it, Dumbledore being gay just weirds me out. x) Though I wouldn't be surprised at all if Harry were haha!
