Spits was a "mistake" but I love him more than anything!

Not exactly the most flattering picture of him, but he was playing with a bottle.

he was chewing on my pant leg. Poor boy's teething!

Sophie - Your guy is so handsome! I'm a sucker for a pretty bay. Did you paint him in the first one? Love the wavy tail, btw

Emily - Cute! I won't get to play with any foals this spring and you're making me jealous. They are so precious.

Cogito - That's an amazing picture. Soulful eyes... I'm guessing a draft of some sort.

I was just at a clinic today with my mare and got some pointers on 'redirecting' her sassy attitude. It was really cool. I was getting her to move her shoulders and hips around by looking at them and raising my hand and getting her to step out of my bubble. I love learning!

rory: I don't know horses well enough to know if he was bred for draft, but the farm is used for riding horses. The upper pasture contains a variety of jumps,

There are a few farms in the vicinity, next to the state forest with its riding trails.

    Horses are great fun. :D

I've got three horses: A Quarter Horse mare, a mustange from a navajo reservation, and a fuzzy Arabian mutt.
I also have a miniature pony, and he's literally like a big horse just shrunk down on a scale of 1:4.

He looks like a some sort of draft breed to me, but if it's a riding facility perhaps he's a cross. Percheron thoroughbreds are popular crosses for riding. But who knows?

lol Sophie! I've finger painted a horse before. I bet the chalk came off a lot easier. :p

ValianceInEnd, I'm jealous of your mini pony. I was at an auction today and watched three or four of the little guys sell for less than $500 each. I had to sit on my hands.

Haha, they are cute lil buggers ain't they? :p

And ouch Emily! Sorry to hear! I once got kicked by a fole when I was 10 and that hurt so bad. A fullsize has to be killer.

Oh, it was a foal. My foal, to be exact. I am hoping I at least get a big purple bruise out of it.

I tried eating horse a few months ago, and I was pleasantly surprised. Both basashi (raw horse), and tinned horse are pretty good. I'll see if I can find any fresh horse at a butchery somewhere, and look up some recipes. Any ideas?

LOL! It is indeed a horse thread, but full of people who'd rather ride them than eat them.:p
That said, when my sister lived in Japan she admitted that she ate horse before she knew what it was...

Anyways... As of tomorrow I will be finished my program at college and have two diplomas in Equine Science! Yay! It's been a long three years.

Thanks! It's just be a good week for me. This weekend I'm at the Mane Event, which is spectacular! The Trainers Challenge, demos, clinics, lectures, and of course the shopping, and all of it about horses.
:) I think I may have died and gone to Heaven.

How is young Spits doing, Emily?

He's doing great. He's eating running jumping, everything a colt is supposed to be doing. :)
