    Character Sheet

    Plot

The kingdom of Galbadan was once a glorious and prospering city-state. Travelers would tell tales of magnificent white walls and gleaming towers. Its golden gates stood as a symbol of freedom from poverty and hunger. In short, it was the shining star of the world. Then the Darkness came. One by one, Galbadan's outermost cities and towns began to fall silent. No shipments of food would come from them, no letters, no taxes. People began to fear that some powerful army from another land had started war. It became readily apparent that that was not the case at all. The King had sent his army out to the next town the unknown attackers were thought to be headed. Out of five thousand soldiers, five lived. Each had been driven completely insane by whatever they had encountered. They told incomprehensible stories of a Darkness that took men's souls. It couldn't be true. Yet, as more and more towns fell to this Darkness, Galbadan itself began to fragment. No food from the farm towns marked a dramatic increase in starvation. No taxes from those towns meant no money for upkeep. As more people who feared for their lives came to the capitol for protection, Galbadan's last resources were stretched thin. Now, disease and death run rampant in the areas outside the Inner City. Bodies rotting in the streets are commonplace. Guards have been posted at the gates to the Outer City and Inner City and have been ordered to permit no one to enter. Having fallen far from its once lofty perch, the people of Galbadan City became discontent. Rebel groups started organizing in the town, though most of these were immediately stifled by the king's guard. Knowing that times had grown desperate, the King commissioned the sending of several letters to people he deemed worthy. The letters read as follows:

    Dear Hero,

Hard times have befallen the land of Galbadan as you may well have heard. I, King Ramonis, implore, nay, beg you to come to the aid of my people. Legends tell of a sacred jewel that brings great power to any who hold it. However, I am far to old to be chasing after ancient relics. I would ask you, brave Hero, to acquire this item and bring it to me, that I might use it to combat this Darkness and restore Galbadan to its former glory. You will be supplied with the finest wares I can muster; Weapons crafted in the depths of the Emerald Forge, Armor smelted by the Dragon People, and the best Galbadanian steeds to carry you to your goal. After your mission is complete, you may keep these items and take of share of your weight in gold from my personal treasury. Make haste, Hero. In a fortnight, I will be expecting you. Show this invitation to the guard at the gate and you will be admitted to the Inner City where you will be escorted to my Feast Hall. Thank you for you consideration, Hero.
    King Iver Ramonis of Galbadan

    People to Know

King Iver Ramonis—King Ramonis is an elderly man who has taken sick of late and is often bed ridden. He is wise and kind and has an air about him that makes people feel at ease, no matter their social rank. His hair is long and white as is his beard, a shiny golden crown resting atop his head. His eyes are a brilliant auburn that sparkle like burnished bronze. Before the coming of the Darkness, he was well loved by his people.

    Lord Bel-Burund
—A regal man in his forties and one of the few surviving Lords. When the Darkness began consuming towns, he was among the first to order his people to fall back to Galbadan City. He is a callous man who is very contemptuous of those who are not of noble blood. When Vel-Banard went insane, Ber-Burund was appointed to take his place as the head of the Galbadan military.

Lord Vel-Banard-- A once valiant and courageous man. Vel-Banard was the one who led the five thousand soldiers to combat the Darkness when it first appeared and one out of five that survived. Vel-Banard is said to have gone insane from whatever it was the Darkness did to him and what he witnessed happen to his men. He is now kept on the Castle Grounds under constant watch by a retinue of soldiers.

Kolg Lishd-- Leader of one of Galbadan City's many rebel factions, he is the most outspoken against the king. He makes outrageous claims that King Ramonis is willingly leading the people of Galbadan to doom.

    Lelil Kovus
—Leader of one of Galbadan City's many rebel factions, she was once a Court Magician. When the Darkness appeared, she vanished, only to return with a contingent of rebels under her control. She strongly advocates the use of violence to overthrow Ramonis.

    Places to Know

Galbadan City—The once magnificent capitol of Galbadan that has fallen far from its place as the apex of the world. Numerous refugees have set up camps outside the Outer Gate.

Outer City—The area between the Inner Gate and Outer Gate. This is where most of Galbadan City's population live, if you could call it living. Disease and death run rampant through this part of the city. It is not uncommon to see rotting corpses on the streets or people killing each other for food. A dangerous area and home to the rebel groups.

    Inner City
—The area in the center of the city that holds the manors of the noble and wealthy, as well as Galbadan Castle. In stark contrast to things beyond the Inner Gate, the Inner City is peaceful.

    Daragkhar
—The nation belonging to the Dragon People that was destroyed, along with its people, almost eighty years ago during the War of Nations. It lies to the North at the foot of the mountains called Dragon's Teeth. It has since become overrun with monsters and brigands of all sorts and is no longer a safe place.

    Age: 25
    Gender: Male
    Race: Human
    Birthplace: Cresent Islands
    Eyes: light blue
Hair: Dirty blonde, short and greasy
    Height: 5’10
    Weight: 165 lbs
History: Arc was raised in a family of Game Hunters, hunting specific creatures rare and native to the Cresent Islands within the island and along the coastal region. His eldest brother Lucius joined the military while Arc was about 10 years of age and was declared MIA after a month in service. His second eldest brother Lamont became well respected in the Cresent Islands for being an expert fisherman, Game Hunter, and all around nice guy who taught Arc the fundementals of being a Game Hunter. After learning that a legendary manticore had been spotted within the smaller islands Lamont was eager to capture it and slay it and traveled with Arc its location. Upon discovering it though, the manticore proved too powerful for Lamont and Arc watched in horror as his brother was devoured by the creature. The creature next attacked him and Arc barely managed to escape with the help of a fox though he suffered fatal wounds to the liver and neck. As he lay dying the fox used its Fox Fire to heal Arc's wounds, though the fox burst into flame right after. Having been healed he left the islands, ashamed of himself for letting his brother die, and became a mercenary for hire. He changed his name to Leon as to forget the boy who was too fearful to save his brother.

    Family:
Parents: Gerard Casanova (Father) Diana Casanova (Mother)
Siblings: Lucius (Oldest Brother/deceased), Lamont (2nd Oldest/deceased), Beatrice (Younger Sister)
    Spouse: none
    Descendants: none

Weapon of Choice: two short spears (custom made), Daggertail
Weapon Description: two light metal spears with jagged blades on each head, can connect to become a larger spear for thrusting, throwing for longer distances and such. The daggertail is a chain with a dagger at the end of it that rests underneath his cloak and is controlled by Leon's unconcious and helps him during times of need. It is an embodiment of his will created from Fox Fire.
Notable Powers: Very flexible/acrobatic/agile, controls a daggertail with his unconcious, daggertail is drenched in an aura of Fox Fire.
Description: kind of a jerk, stubborn and fowl mouth sometimes, reluctant to help people unless the price is right, doesn't really care for politics or the problems of the world and travels a lot, never staying in one place for too long. Doesn't really fear anything but he isn't stupid to dive head first into a "troublesome situation". If anyone could get past his wall and get to know him he's actually a nice guy at heart who's experienced traumatic things.

    Birthplace: unknown
    Eyes: green
Hair: black - long 'n' messy, tied up in a ponytail
    Height: 5' 4"
    Weight: 104lbs
History: Doesn't know where he came from, but doesn't really care. Stuff like that's kinda common in Galbadan, anyway. He's been travelling around with his friend, Ursa, for a while, but they got separated about a month ago. Lynx's a little worried that he's stuck in the Outer City, but he's just being paranoid...right?

    Family: unknown

Attire: a dirty, dark red cloak-thingie that's really big on him - it drags on the ground a little and the sleeves cover his hands completely. He kinda stopped wearing pants 'cause it gets too hot, but still wears his trusty brown boots with the sack of emergency cash in the left heel. He carries a brown leather bag on his back with all his stuff in it.

Weapon of Choice: his not-so-trusty kind-of-sword

Hi, I'm new on this forum, but not new to RP-ing and this one looks great to me, so if you don't mind having a newbie amongst you I'd like to join.

    Erm... character. Right.

    Name:
    Held
Notable Aliases: A few... though none of them very mentionworthy.
    Age: 22
    Gender: male
    Race: human
    Birthplace: the town of Birmarkshire
    Eyes: dark
    Hair: semi-long, brown.
    Height: 5'6"
    Weight: 132 lbs
History: Held became an orphan at the age of 7 (of course, the hero's always an orphan), when his parents fell to a dark and pestilent disease which wiped out almost the entire town of Birmarkshire. Held was one of the three survivors. Struggling to survive, they fled to the woods, where they lived for a few years and fed themselves by harvesting crops and poaching. One day, when Held was 15 years old, his two companions went out to shoot a deer and were never seen again. Held left their house in the forest and after a two month's travel, he reached the Outer city. After failing to earn a fair living by becoming a blacksmith's apprentice, he fell into crime and has roamed the streets of the Outer city and the surrounding lands ever since, robbing travellers and merchants.

    Family: None left

Attire: Inconspicuous, greys and browns mostly. Leather boots, leather belt, cheap cloth shirt. A felt hat and a grubby, dark-red/brown cloack.
Weapon of Choice : sword, short bow.
Weapon Description: Sword: cheap, not exactly sharp, a bit rusty on the edges. Comes with a shoddy black leather scabbard.
Bow: your everyday bow... nothing special.
Notable Powers: Can prevent people from seeing him if he wants to.
Description: Dauntless, sturdy. Doesn't care much for his appearance or personal hygiene. He's your everyday criminal; tough, likes a fight, a giant lack of moral. He always helps a damsel in distress, if she has money to reward him. And Held would'nt be satisfied until she would've rewarded him with everything she's carrying.
That said, Held likes to think he has something called 'a thieve's honour', which means he doesn't hurt people unless he's forced to. He would never disgrace women, he just takes their belongings.

    Name: Cinnabar
Age: Unknown, first appeared about 10 years ago. Appears fairly young.
    Gender: Female
    Race: Human
    Birthplace: Unknown
    Eyes: Grey
    Hair: Unknown
    Height: 5’10”
    Weight: about 145 lbs
History: The mysterious heroine known only as Cinnabar (so named, it seems, for her red attire) first appeared some ten years ago. Initially she showed herself as a figure in a solid red cloak and black mask, leaving her gender ambiguous. She garnered a reputation for appearing whenever people were in need (rescuing people from monsters / wild animals, helping people out of burning buildings, that kind of thing) and became sort of a living legend. At some point she began dressing differently, in her current outfit which is much more revealing and clearly shows her gender; she also began to be seen more often, commonly accompanied by various birds. Her allegiances and background are completely unknown. Interestingly, she refuses any payment or reward for her actions. She only rarely speaks, preferring to keep to herself.

    Family: none known

    Attire: Short version: Picture Here.
Long version: A black mask covers the skin around her eyes (think Zorro or Dread Pirate Roberts), as well as a silver fedora-style hat. Her top is vermilion red, with a v-neck laced by silver cording. One of the sleeves is long and flares wider at the opening, enough so that it covers her left hand. And So They Come...

Chapter ITheme SongSnow by Loreena Mckennitt

    And So They Come...

The flickering torch light cast dancing shadows across the walls of Rae'non Verada's dim bedchamber. He eyed them warily. They seemed to laugh at him. Sometimes he wondered if those shadows were alive, and if they were, what was to be seen in them as they crossed back and forth across the cold stone walls. The flames shifted and they were just shadows once more, a mess of meaningless blackness.

It had been a fortnight since King Raminos had sent the letters out across the lands, begging any hero that would come to aid the nation of Galbadan with all swiftness. Yet, Rae'non feared. It could be seen in his eyes. He did not know what to expect. Then, neither did the arriving heroes.

Without a word, Rae'non Verada, the Dragon Knight of Galbadan, garbed himself in his finest silks and satins, though he was not much for showy things. It was good to make an impression on the heroes. One could hardly lead a group if they did not respect their leader. After all had been dressed, in reds and golds and deep blues, Raenon stood and extinguished the flames of the sconces. Slowly, almost with trepidation, but not without confidence, Raenon left his room and began making his way to the Great Hall where the feast for the heroes would be waiting. There before him would be the king's personal maid, Halle Halide, and the Court Magister, Shao'Tio.

“...And Rae'non stepped into the Great Hall where so many great things before this had been done. There, in that Hall, legends would be born and history would be made. Great and terrible things awaited all who accepted the challenge of the Darkness...And so they come,” Shao'Tio's eyes rolled back to their normal positions and he stared down at the entering Rae'non. “For they shall come, Rae'non.”

Raenon sighed and moved to the seat just right of the head of the table, which was reserved for the king. The seat next to his belonged to the Magister Shao'Tio. Across from them both was the seat of the king's maid, Halle. As Rae took his seat, so to did Shao'Tio and Halle, though she did not speak. “One day I shall puzzle out the mysteries of your strange ability.”

Shao'Tio smiled. “You must puzzle out your own mysteries before worrying about mine, Rae'non Verada.” The man had a peculiar way about him, but his prophecies and visions were not to be taken lightly. “Save the talking for later, Dragon Knight. The first of our guests approach.

Drake stood outside the inner city gate letter in hand. “I wonder if I’m the first one here?” He asked himself and moved his giant sword from it’s place resting across his shoulders and set the tip against the ground. He had no need for a sheath and it would have only gotten into the way anyways. He looked at the guards who had not taken their eyes off of him since he had stopped in front of them.

“Sir.” One of them finally spoke up. “Sir, could you please sheath your weapon?” He asked firmly, but didn’t make any move from his post to come and enforce his request.

“Sorry but I sleep and eat with this sword in my hand, I’m not about to put it away, and anyways I don’t have a sheath.” He said trying to sound respectful. “Anyways.” He continued raising his left hand which held the note. “I was invited here by your king.” He said and the guard that had spoken to him immediately went about opening the gate.

“I didn’t know my lord.” He said his tone almost sounding of awe. As the door opened another guard was standing on the other side of the door as if waiting. “Captain it’s one of the heroes.” The captain nodded smartly and waved for me to follow him.

As soon as I caught up with him he spoke. “I will now take you directly to the Dinning hall where the feast is awaiting your arrival.” He said and I just nodded as we walked though the city quietly. The inner city looked much closer to what it had originally been compared to the outer city. No homeless, and starving, but still even in this part their were obvious signs that it had fallen into disrepair. I found myself doubting that even if we found this item that the city would ever recover to it’s once mighty self.

The castle was magnificent as all old castles were, but even here, you could tell the city was in dire straights. The captain at my side didn’t even have to ask for the doors to be open, they opened as we approached by excited looking guards that starred in wonder as I walked by. The castle was just as worn on the inside, though I suspected that it was partially to make the place feel old and powerful but it was a bit to well done for me to believe that it was entirely meant.

Then came the great hall. As all such places did, it took his breath away, but quickly replaced it with hunger as he caught whiff of the food. He stopped when he noticed his escort was gone. He looked up to see the two lordly men and the maid. Drake bent down taking a knee respectfully not saying anything. He would show his loyalty to his job from the beginning to the end of the job, and nothing changed that. His sword which had been back on his shoulder now rested point on the ground and his right hand held the handle above his head, now five feet of the ground.

Mexico, you got a problem with that?
Rune delighted in the taste of the horse. Strong muscles, pure breed blood. Knight horses were always the best, too bad for the rider though. But what was he to do? It wasn't his fault that every time he faced a warrior it would try to kill him, and Rune wasn't about out to take it, paws down. He'd fought just as fiercely.

Turning again to the knight, he sniffed him around in case he had anything useful on him. Inside his armor there was a letter, summoning him to Galbalan, to the castle of King Ramonis.

'Hmmm, damn...' he thought, he'd just killed one of the knights that were going to fight for the king. Well, it was his own fault for trying to slay a member of the Vargr-ulf.

He divested the knight of his armor and took his clothes. Dug a shallow grave and put the body on, he wasn't evil and he certainly wasn't as heartless to leave him there at the mercy of the elements.

Rune ran all the way to the castle, holding the clothes carefully between his jaws.

Arriving at the castle, he hid to transform and put the clothes on, they fit a little big on him, especially the boots. He wrapped his fur around himself, it fit him like a cloak, without it he wouldn't be able to turn back into his wolf form.

He presented the letter at the entrance and was led through magnificent hallways. Rune would like if he said he wasn't a bit surprised, the Vargr-ulf didn't have anything like castles or fortresses like the humans, they had a sort of court in a secret place among rocky mountains but that was it.

Coming to the great hall, Rune simply bowed and went over to sit. The vargr-ulf also didn't have things like strict etiquette in presence of others, one just acknowledged the one that was superior. Rune sat and and tightened his hold on his fur, taking a whiff of the food being offer. He'd already had his dinner, sorry.

The outer city, bank and dripping with death. One could become hard against it’s sight, it’s smell was a different matter. Ketka twisted her face in distaste. There were no pretty gowns or splendorous lords and ladies here. Instead desperation and the devil walked hand in hand. The people here were godless and their actions let that shine through. The streets were alive with calamity. Shouts and screams of delight could be heard as the citizens of the outer city surrounded a young lad and circled him with steel and fists.

“His from the king,” came a shout.

“Kill him dead,” a hag shrieked from the outside of the circle struggling to see the lad. Ketka ventured forth from the mouth of the ally way to get a better look at the man they had captured.

Groups of men who lined the streets took several steps back as they saw her approach, they knew well that she could hold her own. If they did not feel the bite of the claymore or of battle scar. Then they felt the searing of her song.

As she pushed her way through the circle she shock the shoulder of a man at the front, he turned to her and grinned.

“What goes on here friend?” she asked.

Friend pointed to the boy in the centre of the circle, “he comes in the name of the king.”

Ketka gave a bitter laugh. The boy whirled round in the circle his eyes wide, he looked like a cornered cat ready to be stoned by children.

“Please,” he wailed. Ketka noticed her wailed like a trapped cat also. “I come seeking Lan of Vox. Some say he is here.”

Ketka’s heart caught in her throat. Her father? What business did the king want with Lan.

She stepped into the circle and the shouts died down as friend signalled for the peasants to shut up. His followers carried the command down the streets.

“What of Vox?” she demanded. He regarded her as a hag, staring at her down his nose. She laughed, the little idiot had no idea.

“Vox the Heckling not Vox the haggard witch,” the boy snapped. The crowd roared to life and friend and his fellows reported to using grimy fists to silence the masses. Ketka laughed and the boy suddenly looked unnerved. He looked more deeply into her face. Ketka removed her cloak and tucked her matted hair behind her ears. Then she took the axe from its place on her belt.

“This axe is a legacy to those of Vox,” she said stepping over to the boy she held it before his face.

He stared at the wicked edges of the axe and she squatted down besides him. “Your kingdom denied Vox of it‘s king and now Lan of Vox is no more. It would surprise me little if the kingdom of Vox was also no more. Could you imaged how truly awful it is for one to stand at the gates of Galbadan with their father dying in their arms. Could you imagine how truly awful it would be if the guards were p****** with fear and refusing to let you in?”

The boy shock his head, “s…so you are his daughter. You are Ketka?”

She nodded giving him a grim smile, “I am she.” the messenger passed her a parchment, his hand quivering. “I was instructed to give this to you if your father could not be found here.”

Ketka snatched the parchment and turned her back to the boy. She scanned the paper then let out a hysterical laugh.

“How truly ironic, I shall go to your king.”

She walked away then stopped before friend. “I‘m done with this parasite. Best he be dead before I return.” Friend let out a melodic laugh.

    ****

The walk to the inner cities gates was brisk. Ketka’s cheeks burnt hot with rage, how dare this king ask help of her now, how dare he! After the guards at the gates had examined her invitation they eyed her sceptically then allowed her to pass through the gates. A guard escorted her to the palace pleading with her to change her garb. She refused his futile pleas and stomped into the palace. He guided her to the great hall

“Ketka of Vox,” he left with haste, his cheeks red with embarrassment at the woman he had escorted. Ketka removed her shoulder rig resting the claymore against a nearby wall. She kept her axe at her side. Sitting cautiously with the weapon. This would be most entertaining.

Rae'non nodded at the first few heroes that arrived; a man with a rather large sword, another man that seemed awkward in his to big armor, and a heckling elf girl who was very proud.

"Come please," said Rae'non to them all. "Sit. Eat. Drink. As soon as the others are all accounted for, the king shall come before us. You will have to excuse him not being here presently. He has...taken very ill of late. He hardly leaves his bed anymore."

It was night when Leon came to the great gates of Galbadan, tired and ticked off.

He had traveled the countryside since early morning, wanting to set off as soon as possible. The bleak, decayed grasslands still left a disgusting smell in his noise even after he had passed hours ago. A broken land for a despairing kingdom.

Reaching into his cloak he found the letter a messenger had given him and opened it once again to review it. His eye twitched as he then crumpled the letter back up and placed it back underneath his cloak. He really didn't like these kind of jobs, they usually involved him having to put effort into because it's beyond the ordinary bounty, if it was a bounty. However, jobs like these also meant the price was good, and he was hoping a place like this could give him a reward worth while.

Approaching the gates, a pair of guards stepped forward as one called out to Leon

"Halt", he said. "What business do you have here?"

Leon tilted his wired glasses down and frowned.

    "Who needs to know?"

The guard who spoke hesitated and replied sounding firm.

"Unless you have strict business here sir, I cannot let you pass thes..."

Before the guard could finish Leon had kicked the guard in the face in a swift motion. Before the other guard could react the gates opened and another soldier, apparently a captain by his looks, apeared on the other side and walked towards Leon.

"Quite a greeting, but it would be unwise to start a commotion just before you reach the castle good hero", the captain said.

Leon adjusted his glasses "...he was annoying".

"So he was", the captain replied. "Come, I will escort you to the castle".

Leon did not take much note of the city, having seen the result in the area surrounding the kingdom. He didn't care so much for how glorious the city seemed to be. Leon came he for a job, nothing else would appeal to him until his job was finished.

After entering the castle the captain escorted Leon to the dinning hall which apparently others have come to meet as he took note of the three different characters, outlandish in appearance, before two lordly characters and a maid.

Leon groaned and went to the nearest wall where he leaned against it and folded his arms underneath his cloack, waiting for something to happen.

Drake did not have to be asked twise having waisted all the money from his last job it had taken him a long time to make it here and he had not had a lot to eat. He made an attempt to ignore the two against the wall being unsociable, and went and sat at the table with his left hand holding the sword hilt and tip against the ground, he ate feircely with his free hand and hoped silently that everyone else would soon arive so that he could get on with the job and find himself someplace to go have some fun.

Drake couldn't help but notice that the one girl was rather cute, if shabbily dressed. Nice weapons too. He certainly hoped that she got assigned to his team if they ever have to break up. "I wonder how many females will be here." He asked himself vary quietly. He smirked as he went back to eating. He certainly hoped a lot would.

Ketka stared down her nose at the food and sniffed in distaste. She was hungry, food had been hard for her to come by in the outer city. What was available friend had rationed fairly about the people and animals that lived there. In his own right friend had been king of the outer city and Ketka a subject he had favoured as a daughter. She would return to him and the outer city to continue its protection. She was only here from one reason.

Ketka stared at a man who eyed her thoughtfully. She muttered a kitchen oath under her breath and slumped back in her chair. She felt like striking the table with battle scar. Ketka knew her rage would get her nowhere. She had been born into duty to people, she did not know what had become of Vox but she had the outer city and held duty unto them. She grinned, yes she would save these people. They were more worthy then any that lived in the area surrounding the palace. Yet they lay dying in gutters, living in disease and s***. It had to be stopped.

    Name: Haskeel

    Notable Aliases: Spear of Mulesk

    Age: 29

    Gender: Male

    Race: Half-elf

Birthplace: In a tent in somewhere near Kadish

    Eyes: Gray

    Height: 5'9"

    Weight: 200 pounds

History: In the mysterious desert lands far south of Galbadan, where Merchant Kings rule the shifting and magical sands, a young boy was born in one of the tent cities. His name was Haskeen, with an elven mother and a Man father, he looked mostly human. Tall, thin, tan with a tiny point of the ears, all around slender features with light muscle, he grew up in an average manner. Growing what you could in the sands, trading in the markets, until one day a roaming band of Mercenaries came. In the desert lands the Merchant kings ran their kingdoms with the aid of their loyal Mercenary armies who drifted in from distant lands to gain fortune serving the rich desert men. They drafted every boy who looked strong enough to hold a spear, the primary weapon of the mercenary hordes. Haskeen was one of those taken. He quickly gained a name for himself as the best spear under the Merchant King of Mulesk, great city of the northern sands. Fighting bandits and protecting caravans became second nature to Haskeen as he remained in the band while his fellow soldiers came and went. As the years past, Haskeen grew bored with his constant life, however on one of his visits to Mulesk he saw fliers posted around the city begging for heroes to travel north, to Galbadan to help fight the Darkness. Intrigued by the adventure and swayed by the tales of the great northern riches, Haskeen traveled North.

    Family:

    -Parents-
    Imulin, mother, elf
    Julisk, father, human

    -Siblings-
    None

    -Wife-
    None

    -Descendants-
Many illegitimate heirs on the streets of Mulesk, born of prostitutes.

Attire: The first layer is a sort of silk garment, violet and scarlet, with a gold sash. Very loose fitting, very comfortable, with gold trim over the openings. Over that is worn splintmail, very light, meant to stop a sharp spear or arrow from piercing the body. It covers the chest and hangs down over the legs. Over that is worn a Tabard, white with a Red Dove on the front or back, symbol of Mulesk. The Tabard hangs down to just above the knee, and is very loose. It is held up at the waste by a leather belt, off which hang various velvet bags and wallets filled with money. Finally, over the face of Haskeen is worn a tightly wrapped turban of sorts, only it covers the entire head, bound with strips of leather and cloth, with an opening at the eyes and no where else. His feet are covered with trusty marching boots, made of leather, fairly comfortable but mostly functional for walking long distances. On his back hangs his entire life packed into a fairly small pack, an art the desert mercenaries have perfected. In it is a small tent, rations, as well as swag and fine clothing and robes for various social events. The Spear of Mulesk was a very popular man.

    Weapon of choice: Spear

Weapon Description: His trusted spear, a thing but sturdy thing that had seen much battle. It was about 7 feet long with a rich, dark brown color to it, an anti-cavalry pike that doubled as a phalanx spear, with a tiny steel tip meant for piercing. At his side hung a broad sword, common and functional, though he wasn't nearly as skilled with it as the spear.

    Notable Powers

Veteran's Will-Years of fighting experience has made Haskeen a hard man to refuse in the heat of a battle, partly leadership and partly intimidation make Haskeen a big figure in any fight, and most anywhere else.

The Horseman's Bane-A precise motion of the hand and a quick jab to the neck and any mounted opponent will find themselves on the ground thanks to the training of the mercenary hordes against the nomadic bandits of the desert.

Description: Haskeen is fairly average for his place of origin, black hair, a short , well maintained beard, and tan skin. His accent is thick and recognizable, and his personality is quite overbearing. He is quite the hospitable fellow, due to culture, a more friendly sort when there isn't a fight going on, but the minute a battle begins he shows little compassion or tolerance for anything but his own will. He is interested in one thing, himself, not the fate of Galbadan, should helping Galbadan prove profitable Haskeen will be sure to see to it.

Haskeen marched forward at a slow, sulking pace. The road was dirt, more like mud as it had rained recently, but Haskeen's spirits were high even if his energy was low. He was getting closer to Galbadan, soon he would be in the north, a land famous for its rich nobility and its weak peasantry, a place of opportunity for one such as Haskeen. It had been rough going so far, the desert he knew, but as he passed into the north things got miserable. Cold nights and seemingly constant rain did not fare well on his clothing or flimsy tent. His tabard was covered with mud by this point, yet he pressed on, fueled by the signs of the north. Farmers tilling fields, smoke from far off chimneys, serene forests and green grass. The land of opportunity hadn't let Haskeen down yet as he pressed on into the third week of his journey.

On the third day of the third week the dirt road ended and a stone one began, though many bricks were missing, probably salvaged for building seeing as the darkness most likely cut off Galbadan from its quarries, but it did mean Haskeen was getting closer. The birds began to chirp less and less, the nights were colder and the sky was darker. Whether this was good or bad was yet to be seen, but in one days time he would find out.

"The North, I was expecting something grander, eh?" Haskeen stood infront of the main gateway to Galbadan, its doors open and swinging in the grey, cloudy day. No one guarded the door, and the streets beyond looked abandoned. Haskeen looked around, checking to see if he was alone, to see if anyone was nearby, but this dark and dreary day told no lies, he was. With an unsure step forward, he entered the city for the first time, into a morbid and abandoned street. It led one way, flanked on either side by wooden tenements, about 4 stories tall, doors and windows boarded up, not even a rat making a noise. The ground was littered with trash, muddy puddles scattered about the few remaining grassy areas, the stone pathway that led forward was completely empty, save a few corpses. As Haskeen traveled forward, taking quiet steps in the awe of this place, he felt as if he was upon hallowed ground.

Less than 10 minutes had Haskeen entered the city and yet his first encounter with the remaining citizens of the outer city did occur. As he passed slowly through a market, stands overturned and empty barrels rolling slowly back and forth in a small breeze that seemed to come out of no where, he spied movement in an ally. The ally was small, maybe 3 feet across between what was once a warehouse and a tea house, both boarded up, red X's painted on the walls. Out of instinct, Haskeen let his spear fall from its resting place on his shoulder and into his other hand. He then pointed it forward, standing in a sort of sideways position, the stance of a phalanx. Slowly pacing forward, he entered the ally, his footsteps seeming to make quite a bit of noise in the silent day, the only other sounds being that of a barrel rolling and the squealing noise of a door swaying on its hinges somewhere far off in the distance.

The ally was about 20 feet in length, empty of everything except a few strands of hay, and as Haskeen reached the end of it, he was ready to call it nothing, until he saw another flash to the left. After the ally was a bigger ally, 6 feet across and what Haskeen estimated to be 120 feet long, boxes and barrels littered this sort of main alley, as it was opened up into by all others around. Haskeen's eyes darted around nervously. So many places to hide, they could be anywhere. Sweat began to run down his face, not much, but enough to tell him he was not alone. He quickly got back into stance as he slowly began to advance down the end of the great alley, each step slow and silent, his spear moving to each and every nook and cranny as he approached it. Then a noise broke the silence, a small piece of wood fell off of a large pile of crates to Haskeen's right, followed by the sound of another human, an under the breath curse. Haskeen was swift, he ran for the pile of crates and quickly jabbed his spear into whatever was in the shadows of the great boxes before him. A human form fell out, hitting the ground with a splat.

The dead man jerked vigorously on the ground, finally stopping, the pungent odor of feces already rising form the corpse, one well known to Haskeen. Near his outstretched hand was a knife, over his face was a scarf and on his body were the trappings of a peasant. With a sigh Haskeen looked away, the city finally seemed to come awake, noises beginning to fill the streets once more, doors opening, people talking, footsteps echoing in the quiet afternoon. Finally, life returns to this place. The foreigner grimaced at the corpse at his feat, before finally walking away, ready to finally go to the castle, already clear in the distant sky, his spear returned to its rightful spot on his shoulder.

    ***20 minutes later***

Haskeen approached the gate to the inner city, a skinny man in uniform who carried a short northern pike. "Sah, what business have you in the inner city?" He asked with a curious sincerity, one eyebrow raised, most likely at the strange man's odd attire.

With a deep, strong desert accent, he replied,"Dear friend, I am here to see your glorious king! He did request heroes did he not? I am sure one such as you can see I am here on official business with the nobility, best not let your already strained mind get wrapped around such matters, dearest friend, simply let me pass and we shall have no trouble." The tone was sympathetic, his eyes were friendly, the cloth near his mouth shifted with each careful word.

The guard, still a tad confused, said,"Why yes, of course milord, a man of your dress is obviously here fer the matters of me good king." He stood aside, glancing around behind Haskeen, his eyes narrowing as he checked for rebels. "Best get in there fast, the hour is late, this gate is to close soon, rebels are a scum we won't be having near the nobility." Haskeen nodded and swiftly entered the inner city, a place where the sun seemed to shine brighter, followed quickly by the guard, who banged twice on the gate, which then closed quickly.

Haskeen looked around in obvious awe at the sights around him. This was the north he imagined. Fine stone buildings, grand archways and fountains, brightly dressed nobles walking about, laughing and conversing, their fat, healthy wallets jingling with each step. Haskeen did not waste any more time, though, as he quickly made his way to the castle, its great gates standing open with hospitality, two smiling guards welcoming him and escorting him to the feast hall, alive with activity, as three of his compatriots already began their revelry. Haskeen asked for a place to change and store his belongings, getting into formal robes, purple with gold trim, as well as a pair of sandals, before joining his fellow heroes for the first time.
