    Pyramids, crabs and mysterious ladies

Discussion in 'Word games' started by Woof, Aug 11, 2015.

Pyramids, crabs and mysterious ladies... that's what occupies Mars, apparently.

These are all things that have been 'seen' in images recorded by the Mars rover, as summarised here. It's so wonderfully daft that there must be a story in it somewhere -- a new world devised around this holy trinity! -- but it's got me stumped.

Can you write a story/short that builds upon this new Mars reality, as perceived by our pareidolian minds? It's just for giggles... anyone fancy it?:pop:

I think it is possible. But it would be like writing the events of Pompeii. The destruction of a civilization. They say Mars has water inside it but you would have to drill to get to it. It makes one wonder if Mars didn't have a catastrophe like the one that killed the dinosaurs here. We might never know. But we will learn more about the planet when they send the group up to go to Mars.

I'd probably write a short story where Mars is being narrated by a condescending voice. It would take every chance to mock how humanity thinks it sees what isn't there, missing what's important, and has the memory of a goldfish with altimeters. Last paragraph cue Pluto's evil laugh, the 'heart' people see is actually part of the death star.

You think Pluto isn't a planet? Well Pluto doesn't think Earth deserves to be one anymore either, because this time... It's personal.

Or the one that will kill us, perhaps?! I was thinking it reminded me of stories of ancient egypt or the mayans etc. There's just something about it that's made me really curious, but it's a topic way out of my skill set. Go on... write it.

    Well, I am not disappointed...

DO IT DO IT DO IT! Flying goldfish?!
