    The passive voice discussions?

Oh, they are legion. And can get pretty apocalyptic!

The best comments are the ones that insist that every "to be" verb renders a sentence passive voice.

Or the list of "passive verbs" and the correlating belief that every sentence that uses one of these verbs must be passive.

    Ah, good times.

Oh, Cthulhu save us all. This ones comes up again and again like a bad penny. I can't believe no one has mentioned the Show vs. Tell conundrum. I want to throttle whomever named that one (show). The confusion elicits an aggressive emotive response from me (tell). ;)

I think at least one member here will agree with me when I say that sometimes the line between trolling and artistry is pretty thin.

No, the proper way to troll people is to say that GIF (the file format) is pronounced with a J and not a G.

Sidenote: I am sad that there was not a puppet show.

Yeah I was looking forward to a puppet Wrey whacking a puppet Cydney with a truncheon marked 'ban hammer' while a crocodile stole the sausages

I'd like to read that. Is it still available here on the site? I did a search and only found your entry in this thread.

Which is to say, none has been seen by you? :D

As for the original topic, this thread raises the question of when, if ever, having two differently-named accounts on one site is not sock-puppetry. On Facebook, it's perfectly acceptable to have a personal real name profile and an author page under your pseudonym. The understanding seems to be that that's fine, as long as you don't come on your own author page as your RL self, pretending you're two different people.

I'm currently trying to figure out how to leave book reviews on Amazon without using my buyer name, as that contains identifiers that could compromise how others receive what I say. I want to do that in a kosher, ethical way, but I reckon I should start a new thread in Critique forum to discuss it.

really the difference is when you pretend to be two different people to cause discord - having one name to buy and one name to review on a site like amazon isnt really the same thing ... it would be sock puppetry if you had a whole load of review accounts and used them to slag off/pick n your competition
