    Favorite Movie Genre

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Reggie, Apr 29, 2011.

What movie genre do you frequent the most? However, while the poll only allows you to choose one genre, you may tell what other movie genres you like too. I am not sure if there is a thread like this, but if there is, please feel free to delete it. The reason why I ask this was that I am interested as to know your tastes on the types of movies you watch, categorized into genres.

I am more likely to go and see a sci-fi film than any other, closely followed by fantasy (loved LOTR and HP movies), action and then comedy in that order.

Occasionally I watch the odd RomCom.

Not really interested in drama much. I used to like horror in my younger days but I've become a bit of a scaredy cat.

Definitely Science Fiction. Westerns I also enjoy.

It's not a 'genre', but I'm a sucker for international films. Films like Downfall, The Motorcycle Diarys, Persepolis, and Ringu are some of my favorites.

I plumped for dramas. I suppose the films I'm drawn to most are those which have money lavished on them, which have some Hollywood sheen about them, but which have some intelligence.

I went with drama, but not Oscar-bait Hollywood drama. Good, international drama. Real drama.

I vote animation, simply because of the greatness of studio ghibli and Japanese animation in general, and their ability to meld any other genre into an animated feature.

I voted for "thrillers/mysteries" but I can really get into an "historical fiction" or "biography/drama"...I love comedies, operas and musicals as well as romances but I love to bite into something with more meat than fluff.

Action/Adventure- Gotta love them. I mean especially with over the top explosions and bullets flying every which way. That or just about anything that falls into this category. Love'em.

Science Fiction: Especially movies taking place in the distant future. but really any kind of science fiction is awesome. Whether it's something like Stargate or Star Wars. Time Travel, gotta love time travel. :D

Thriller- Nothing like a good thriller...

    OK enough of this!

What do I prefer? I just prefer a good story that interests me. Whether it's a love story, action adventure, fantasy, scifi, Drama.

I've got to go with action only because it can work so well with any of the other mentioned genres.

    Sci-Fi is a close second.

Awww man, it's so tough for me to pick ONE, I literally like movies from EVERY genre. I'm not as big into musicals or westerns, but there's a few exceptions for those, too. I'm not a fan of "slasher" horror films but I do like zombie apocalypse movies. I'd say I tend to gravitate the most toward comedy/action/fantasy/sci-fi, but again I like something from every genre. *sigh* I'm fickle :D

    Ditto this

I would have chosen "Action" but it says the poll is closed. Anyway, basically because all the other genres I like could be tied to that: Thriller/Mystery, War, Crime, and Fantasy usually have action [i.e., Shooter, Saving Private Ryan, Se7en, and LotR, for the respective categories].

This isn't really a genre...but I tend to like movies made after a book alot more. Probably because the story is usually alot better lols!

Hey, I missed the poll! Guess I've been too busy. I would have voted scifi, war, and then comedy/family. I love laughing and historical warfare, but scifi is my all-time fave.
