Hello there, I'm a writer and a student from North Carolina. I'm studying English and anthropology and in my spare time I write primarily nonfiction, especially personal essays. I also do some content writing for a film website. Additionally I dabble in poetry and fiction, but even my fictional stories tend to be realistic with some Gothic elements. I suppose some of my influences include Shirley Jackson, Flannery O'Conner, and Truman Capote, but I try to read from a variety of authors including science writers. I look forward to the workshops!
Don't know about the two others you mentioned, but I love Truman Capotes's short work! If only he hadn't been seduced by celebrity, and cocaine, he would have given us more amazing stories.
I remember watching his last appearance on the Dick Cavett show. I think it was from 1980 or '81. He certainly looked worn out. I suppose the drug use had something to do with his anxiety issues.
Yep, that I do. That is I most definitely remember reading the story as a boy, but had long forgotten who wrote it. It's weird, if I had to make a guess I would have said Richard Matheson wrote that story.
Unfortunately, whatever was in him to write had come and gone by the early 1970s. I think he must have known that he would never again capture the magic of his early works.
