Referencing in novels.

Hey all, I have a question regarding referencing companies, products, news agents, manufacturers and the like. Do you have to put the Copyright symbol after mentioning their name, or just write out the product/company/etc normally?

Would I have to get special permission from the company/manufacturers of the product to use their name? or product name?

No. Names can't be copyrighted. The only thing you need to be careful about is possible defamation.

 

no, you don't... and no, you wouldn't...

brand name companies do try to scare new writers into using the tm symbol, knowing they can't force anyone to do it...
