Closed Voting Voting is CLOSED for contest #181 - theme: "UFO"

Discussion in 'Bi-Weekly Short Story Contest Archives' started by GingerCoffee, Nov 10, 2015.

    Contest #181
    Theme: "UFO" courtesy of @Tenderiser

Contest story entries can be found HERE.

We have 4 entries in this contest! The winner will be revealed in two weeks and the winner thread will be stickied until the next contest's winner is crowned. No more entries are allowed in this contest.

Entries are listed in the poll in the order posted.

Voting ends in two weeks, Sunday, Nov. 22nd, 2015 ~8:00 pm Pacific Time.

I encourage authors to vote. While it is controversial, it remains acceptable in the short story contest to vote for yourself. I encourage you to vote honestly. In the name of good sportsmanship only vote for yourself if you have read all the other stories and given them your honest evaluation.

Consider how the author has responded to the theme, as well as the quality of the writing and overall impression of the story in making your decision.

Read for pleasure, learning, and to vote.
Make someone's day, vote for their story!

And while you are at it, how about voters take a look at the Halloween poetry contest? I know poetry sometimes feels like a unique niche, but the current contest could use a bit of drummed up interest and I'm all to happy to do a bit of drumming. :cheerleader:

One more day to vote, this time almost any vote will cause a tie. We need another tie. ;)

And coincidentally, any vote in the poetry contest will break a tie.:p

Four stories, nine hours, you still have time to vote. :agreed:

Four Halloween :ghost: poems, two weeks, no excuse for not voting in the poetry contest.

Three flash fiction stories, one week, you can make it a three-way:supercheeky: and vote in all three contests this go round.

And @edamame wins her first short story contest with The Miasma. :agreed:

Second place and the story I voted for (though I liked all of them and it was a close call): Springtime in a Small Midwestern Town, by @Jones.

Third place was @bumble bee with The UFOs.

And fourth place but still earning a respectable number of votes was @Mocheo Timo with
    The Little Flower’s Pursuit.

Congratulations all! I had good fun with the topic and it was interesting to see what everyone did with it.

I only realised after posting that I'd accidentally put my name in mine. :bigoops:In the first draft it was butterflies...
