Voting ~ Writers Trinity The Fourth

Discussion in 'Bi-Weekly Poetry Contest Archives' started by Torana, Oct 17, 2008.

    VOTING!
    WritersTrinity
    The Fourth

Voting will end in 3 days from now, the 20th of October.

Voting for yourself is entirely at your own discretion. I'm frankly sick of discussion on the matter, so any in here will be deleted.
If you want to vote for yourself, go for it, but I personally wouldn't do that unless I genuinely believed mine was the best.

The winning poem will be stickied for a week in the poetry contest.

Just a quick reminder about this week's challenge::
Craft a poem using the following three words listed below:

(remember each of the following words/objects MUST be included in the poem. As always, the plural forms of the words count. ie: run - Runs, running. Ran is not acceptable)

    1 ~ Halloween
    2 ~ Guileless - naive and trusting
    3 ~ Rapture - overwhelming happiness
As a little extra for this one, there is a fourth word. You 'do not' have to use this word, but in following with a new theme, we will be using a word from the 'word of the day' listing for the trinity contests in the future. So we are going to begin with this one, by adding it as an extra word to challenge you all that extra bit more. The next trinity contest will go back to 3 words, as per normal.
With the explanation out of the way, the fourth word is: *drum roll*
4 ~ Sanguine for definition, click here - taken from Word of the Day

Oh, and if I catch anyone cheating, you will be sent to the dungeons, tortured and then hung. You have been warned *evil laughs, whilst preparing the torture chambers...* I need new inspiration for my writing anyway! BAHAHAHA!

Seriously folks, don't do it. There is no prize to be won here but bragging rights, making cheating an exercise in pointlessness.
Also, I urge members not to post in this thread at all. It clogs up the thread (and annoys me greatly!) and all posts will be removed. Thank you.

Best of luck to all entrants, and happy voting

    Gannon - Tauture

Yonder thirty first high-moon laughs aloud
as Hallowe'en plies her guileless craft proud.
    Such aimless abandon, bloodthirsty greed,
does a spawn of spiky malcontents breed.
Tricky little devils awash with treats:
a sea of minions, adrift in the streets.
    Whose rapture? Whose louche exhilaration?
Look! Their heated plumes of exhalation
    mix with sinful corporate quintessence:
a mute dance under sanguine fluorescence.

    Scarlett_156 - Samhain

A smother of flittering leathery wings
fills this vast hall, and it echoes now with minute squeaking voices.
Frosty air moistens the marbled walls
and a single sliver of wan starlight strikes the cold floor
announcing the great feast; a screech owl's call
quickens our silent steps, and all
    hasten out to Hallowe'en.

The hamlet rustles, a busy hive.
Wavering sparks of orange light and guileless childish voices
    enliven the chilly winding streets.
And we listen, and our eyes meet
    in noiseless laughter.

The moon lies low and listless, soon to set.
Without haste I cross fields; the shining furrows
and frost-spangled pumpkins with their withered vines
    delight my vision.
Who will remain once the dark settles?
The wary quick will huddle by fire and kettle
hackles erect, eyes wide with comic fear
to hear tales of Samhain past.
    Foolhardy handsome drunken knave!
join our dance of sanguine rapture.

K~la - This is Our Night

    Guileless souls frolic the streets
    on Halloween at night.
Little do you know what is lurking
trying to give you a fright.
    All so carefree and sanguine,
a rush of sweet sugar rapture.
But once you turn your back,
    your body we will capture.
Try to hide or run away,
it will not help you at all.
We will catch you in the end,
    we will make you fall.
So before you get all excited
to dress up and have some fun,
remember what’s in store for you
    now that Halloween has begun.

    Thagryn-Syrland - The Ghost

Solemnly calls the bird of night,
Before it takes its hopeless flight,
    Amongst the darksome things unseen,
    Basking in a moon sanguine,
A guileless man it came upon,
Who had a sickly face of wan,
To whom he talked it did not know,
But it heard tales of stark sorrow,
Never had this man felt rapture,
Not even love for heart to capture,
Yet only peace was his behest,
For never would his poor soul rest,
    Forever stuck in Halloween,
    Amongst the darksome things unseen.

Samswriting - CandyCorn and Treats Aplenty

I a ghost, on Halloween night,
Mom in sanguine, eating the light,
    Candy corn, and chocolate pleasure,
    childs fun, a parents treasure.

laughing in rapture, moon shines down,
Guileless I walk, without even a frown,
ghosts and goblins, witches and ghouls,
children are happy, and babies drool.

    Trick Or Treat, such delight
door opens, flash blinds my sight,
a single shot, a smoking gun,
screams of pain, and she was gone.

    Nobeler Than Lettuce - Treat.

    Children are guileless.
    I've always said it myself.

    And if tonight
    comes to it
    they'll be dead before dawn.

    I put it
    in my candy.
    Costs 90 dollars a gram.
    From a special Canadian supplier
    I knew in high school.

Halloween night and a little cyanide.
Not like razor blades in apples.
    I have more class.
    And tonight the rapture
    for the fun loving crowd.

    Children - without sin.
    Dying without sin?
    Every year since 86.
How much better could this get?
God I love reading that inevitable headline.
