Well we sold 2 copies and 12 people down loaded the 20% free view. So we are official paid authors. We are anxiously waiting to be accepted in smashwords premium catalog then our book will be available in all ebook stores. We are not happy with the cover it got squished and elongated in the conversion so we are working to fix it but for better or worse we are on the way. It's an incredible feeling of relief at having it done, while at the same time a nervous new experience as we plod along.

Thanks you guys, the relief of getting it on line is a cause for celebration. We are off to town for supplies which will include pizza and beer and we plan to have a debate watching party. We are still worriedly waiting for our premium catalog acceptance that's the next big step.

If it doesn't get accepted initially, Smashwords is pretty good about telling you what went wrong so you can fix it and resubmit.

What a looooooong day. WE have been struggling to get into smashwords premier catalog. Our cover was too wide for its tallness. Back to photo shop and we aint very geeky. Finally we got one sized right. I know I know a CHILD COULD DO IT RIGHT! Grrrrrrrr. We excitedly resubmitted and waited very anxiously, only to get kicked out again this time it loaded with a white frame around it. Right pixles just not cropped. Grrrrrrrrrrr so after a night of frustration we think we finally got it and just hit send again. Maybe 3 rd time will be a charm. Now we wait again but I think we got it this time. In the mean time we are getting 150 visits a day on just smashwords and it has been a learning experience for sure. We gonna be ready for next time for sure. But we gonna take a break and let it slowly show up on all the ebook sites.

I am glad ya said cigar shaped and not the other obvious thing:) it is very long because each section consist of 4 8 sided containers for cargo. Each container is 300 ft long. Think of a long string of barges on the water. We are hoping it makes folks curious enough to look.

@Cappy and Pegody I read through a portion of the sample and it sounds interesting. I'm going to read the rest of it when I have a chance to sit down and actually do so.

My recommendation is to get a professional cover made. A lot of people will skip over this just because of the cover. I would, if I just came across it browsing. I took a look because it was posted in these forums. A cover doesn't have to be that expensive - you can get decent premade ones starting at around $45. Here, for example: http://www.goonwrite.com/book-covers-scifi_pre-made.htm

I thought it was either a pen or an old-timey telescope. I agree with Steerpike. You will get more readers if you have a decent cover.

With tears of joy, I just got the email stating that our book will begin shipping to all retailers today!!!!!!! WE will consider yall comments and may change the cover but for now we are thrilled beyond description. In frustration we bowed held hands and prayed for assistance. The email came in seconds later.

Thanks, it's moving kinda slow but we aint too discouraged. Being almost 500 pages its a slow read and we hope someone else will respond.
