Short Fiction Writer: What League are You in?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by TWErvin2, Jul 1, 2007.

    Hey Folks,

My article, Short Fiction Writer: What League are You in?, was published by Fiction Factor yesterday. Utilizing an analogy with the various levels of professional baseball, the article tries to help writers determine where their writing stands professionally.

Check it out: Short Fiction Writer: What League are You in?

Interesting piece, Terry. I've never even looked at the publishing markets, but this gives a good snapshot of the range.

    Thanks.

    Interesting indeed.

And I must say, I know basically nothing about baseball, but that didn't make it any harder to understand.

    Cogito and Eóin,

    Thanks for reading and commenting!

Cogito, I had to narrow the topic to short fiction, as opposed to including novels, novellas etc. I think one could use a similar analogy for them.

Eóin, I'd hoped that it would still make sense for those not familiar with baseball. I tried to include just enough information about the various leagues so that writers reading the article could orient themselves with respect to the levels (beyond the names which are also pretty clear once established).

    Torana,

Thanks for reading. I'm glad you found it interesting. I'd hoped it would be helpful for writers trying to find their way in the profession.
