    No Place Like Home

The taste of cedar and salt linger on my tongue.
Gusting waves of heavy scent against my face.
Trees swaying, brandishing their dancing arms,
rolling wih every breath the ocean breathes.

Seagulls lazily drift with wide spread wings,
gliding on currents of warm air.
    Their high pitch calls oddly blend in;
    soothing and calming my nerves.

    The silent mountains in the distance;
smile as the streams tickle down them.
    Laying like oulined, ridgid bodys,
    happy to protect our valley.

    Old friends stroll the sidewalks.
    Waving to the whales,
and shaking hands with pink anemonies.
I smile a hello to the stoic eagles.

    Balancing along warm train tracks,
fishing pole in hand, whistling a tune.
I take a seat in velvety moss,
    and finger curly dry ferns.

I stick grass in my mouth relishing the sweet tip.
Looking to the sky for puffy rabbits,
and letting the sun kiss my freckle face .
Knowing there's no place like my island home.

    Me and My Home Town

When you walk along the streets,
you walk with your head down low.
When you dance upon the stage,
you stumble, then you forever fall.

This is the town of heartache,
a place no one can flee.
No one walks with pride no more, just
heavy hearted sorrow and we’ve all lost.

Someone save me from the madness,
free me from the roots that hold me here.
I try to run but I’m held back,
the memories just won’t let go.

I walk around the unforgetting corner
    Another sad memory to fill,
    my already troubled heart.
    I can’t take it anymore,
    I live within damnation world.

I long to flee this mind numbing insanity.
To walk the streets with my head held high.

But every time I strive for greatness...
I end up crawling back inside damnations door.

Free the pethetis little blue wren,
blood drips from the tips of its feathers,
as she struggles to find her wings.

Her little home is not her own
and damnation won’t let her sing.

This is the story of me and my home town.
A place were beauty does nothing but die.
This is the story of me and my little town.
A place where all we want to do is leave.

I Woz Ere - The Short Ode Home.

    Among the faded 40's glamma
    I throw caution to the wind;
with it my sense of grammar.

    Beauty, albeit in prefab form,
    sprouts in bashful (car)parkland,
    showcasing tha wise trees forlorn.

    Mini-roundabouts & lager louts,
    summer strollz & power-outs,
    corner shops, young mothers,
    historic bridges & young luvvers.

I thus caress, rather than scrawl,
    a statement of sentimental intent
upon the warm, and forgivin' wall.

    My Hometown

I’ve been lost for many years
    Wondering the wastelands
    Crossing the desert of white
    Looking for profit
Finding anywhere I go always leads
    North.

    Facing this cruel world
    Wherever I go
    Is hard at times
Autumn leaves falling like dead prayers
    But someday I’ll turn around
Someday I’ll walk back the long road home
    To my hometown

    The place I left
    The place I was born
The steel town of my Hometown
Were the workers live for Friday night
    And baseball Saturday
    My hometown

The evening sun warms my face
as I sit on the harbour wall.
    Waves are gently lapping
to the tune of a seagulls call.

    White cottages line the harbour
and stand out in the sun,
    come high-tide they are empty;
a profession passed from son to son.

In summer time the beach is full
    of laughter, castles and cream.
    The only thing dividing it
is the ending of a stream.

With winter winds that bring no joy
    the beach waits looking forlorn.
Battered and hounded by the tide
    that leaves it feeling torn.

The shifting sands that blow and rest
come graced with pebbles and shells.
Created by the cool blue sea
and left there by strong swells.

    Gull Rock sits quietly waiting
    while its tenants circle high,
as the sun sets on another day
and touches water with a sigh.
