Weekly Poetry Contest (111) Voting - Oasis

    Voting

Apologies for the delay in this being put up. I've been buried under university work the last few weeks.

This week's theme was (courtesy of TheHedgehog): Oasis[/COLOR]

Voting will end on Friday 23rd April 2010.

Voting for yourself is entirely at your own discretion. I'm frankly sick of discussion on the matter, so any in here will be deleted. If you want to vote for yourself, go for it, but I personally wouldn't do that unless I genuinely believed mine was the best.

The winning poem will be stickied for a week in the poetry contest.

Oh, and if I catch anyone cheating, their entry will be removed from the contest and you will be unable to enter a poem into the contest for a month. Sorry to be such an ogre about this, I don't want to be, but rules are rules and are in place for valid reasons. If you can not follow the rules, you face the consequences.

Best of luck to all entrants, and happy voting.

    The heat yells at me
    screaming bright red noise
    nowhere to hide
    from this scorching pain

    A Lady of the Lake
    whispers soft, soothing
    Indulging in her voice
    calming stream of words

    It's over, they left
    High above me
    I see them circle

    Afternoon the Phoenix Flew
    By Nobeler Than Lettuce

    In the bright days sun,
    over glaring land
    carpeted with sand.

    The phoenix flew.
    Then at least we knew
    that we would live.

And the model builder's water drove him wild.
And his glasses broke up and built a fire.
And if you look right on the inside of his palms
you'll see inch long gashes that had come
from the struts that he had held on just to live,
while careening through the air just like we did.

    Our metal birds
    do split the sky
    like it was prophesied.

    And paper wings,
    boys with strings.
    A wind blows mildly.

    Birds and the Fish
    By Brian

    Above me I watch
    The birds as they call.
    The sun as it shines
    And casts shadows.

    I sit by the lake.
    I watch it, so calm.
    The fish as they swim
    And scurry.

    No people around,
    But I’m not alone.
    The birds and the fish,
    They roam.

    Of the birds who speak
    Without talking.
    Of the fish who soar
    Without wings.

    Today I sit
    And I watch them.

    Hell must be a desert,
    For a desert owns all
    That any festering
    Whore or goring cock would
    Not find desirable
    To their hellish pleasures.

    Though deserts are vexing
    And, nay, lethal to the
Brain, there is one grain of
    Sand amongst the vastness
    Of nothingness that may
    Quench their very rancid soals.

    Yet this place is legend
    And mirage to the mind
    A heaven in hell to
    Torment the deserving,
    Damn dreams of the Dreamers,
    And drown every last hope.

    Forever they shall search
And walk in the light, to
    Please thoughts of freedom,
And hope for new death, friend
    Only of buzzards that prey,
    And devils of Magog.

    The unique patch
    By cynthia a k

The sun had been extra scorching,
    The sand extra hurting,
    The wind hot and furious!
    The mind shaken to bits!
    And then my camel said.....that
    That would be enough!
    Would there be an oasis?
    Well;he said,chewing away..
There is one li'l one just two looks away
I show it to the ones who often come this way.

I was just calling that two big looks,
When there near that strangest nook,
Was the shiniest patch I had ever seen!
Curiousity killed me ,yet Iwalked along,
I was even tempted to sing a li'l song
    Of joy and anticipation!

For tapping at some muisic, and looking my way
Were all the friends I had till today!
All in colourful clothes, the way they had been,
Years before ,when we had first seen!
In a big embrace I held them all
In my ocean of happiness,I engulfed them all!
All of them had woes to say
But I brushed them off in a tender way!

Some naughty kids were playing in glee,
    Whispering to each other,that none may see;
But the real crowd that caught my eye
Were the brown ones, with dullbrown masks
Their eyes were naked, they said it all,
Guilt and shame, and hidden tales, though small,
Lo!all of them were dissolved in smiles!
As we shook hands together, and laughed for miles!

And then a strange feeling,my thirst was gone!
    As though each cell had got its share alone;
My body arose with energy and joy,
As I walked to my camel,it was time to say goodbye.
And then we slowly started out inthe night,
Even the wind could carry us., we were so light!!
