Weekly Poetry Contest (147) - Haikus

Discussion in 'Bi-Weekly Poetry Contest Archives' started by Banzai, Apr 4, 2011.

    Weekly
    Poetry Contest
    One Hundred and Forty Seven

We've done a few Haiku themed contests, and they usually seem to go down well, so what the heck?

    The Rules
    • All entries must be on the set theme.
    • Only one entry per member.
    • No editing of entries once posted without my express permission (i.e. PM me and ask).
    • Poems must be titled
    • Entries must not have previously posted on the forums, and are not permitted to be posted for critique until AFTER the contest is completed.
    • Any violation of these rules will result in disqualification of entries, and possibly infraction.

The entry stage will be open for seven days, closing on Monday 11th April 2011.

The voting stage will begin immediately, and will be open for three days, ending on Thursday 14th April 2011.

And this week's theme is: Haikus

A haiku is a Japanese poem, with 17 syllables arranged in three lines of 5, 7 and 5 syllables, with no necessary rhyme scheme.

The next (148th) contest's theme will be (courtesy of Palmer): All is one, one is all, and it will be opened on Monday 11th April 2011.

Be imaginative, have fun, and get writing.

    Banzai

PS: If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me. I don't bite (much).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Sorry guys (and gals), but I'm extending the poetry contest another week. This is due to technical problems on my end (I can't adequately sort the contest threads out on my Kindle, which is at present my only regular source of internet access).

The problems will be sorted by next Monday, so the contest will merely run an extra week, and entries during that week will still be allowed into the contest.

    Once again, my apologies.
