    Weekly Poetry Contest (151) Voting - A Sense of Relief

    Voting

    Let's get voting!

    And this week's theme was: A Sense of Relief

    Voting will end on Friday 27th May 2011.

    Voting for yourself is entirely at your own discretion. I'm frankly sick of discussion on the matter, so any in here will be deleted. If you want to vote for yourself, go for it, but I personally wouldn't do that unless I genuinely believed mine was the best.

    The winning poem will be stickied for a week in the poetry contest.

    Oh, and if I catch anyone cheating, their entry will be removed from the contest and you will be unable to enter a poem into the contest for a month. Sorry to be such an ogre about this, I don't want to be, but rules are rules and are in place for valid reasons. If you can not follow the rules, you face the consequences.

    Best of luck to all entrants, and happy voting.

    Relief Comes Creeping

    Even when stillness blankets all the corrupt,
    there remains movement not seen, but heard and felt.
    Under such slight confines,
    as to be assimilated to a thin strip of paper sliced edgewise ten times over,
    the slim membrane of chance and the sharp dagger of reality meet on the cusp of dandelions and darkness.
    Without such a bumpy horizon you could see death far in the distance,
    but not far enough,
    floating in a broken silhouette.
    My snot though dammed by it’s dried brethren, runs all the same; except now, down my throat.
    I feel consciousness returning,
    breaking barriers of sound and light.
    My mind shoots tools in random pattern,
    to the near and nether of my body.
    My eyelids roll up like animated shades,
    and poison drips from their corners.
    Upon a scene my dream is broken,
    and I am here to catch its beam.
    The glowing harlot in my room,
    reveal my fortune, reveal my tears.
    A sigh beats weeping to my lips,
    relief comes creeping,
    my dream is closed.

    Grief
    By KingDerekx

    catch me
    as i rise
    don't act
    surprised

    i saw the ending
    of my demise
    buried in dirt
    like those i despise

    but my words live on
    forever and ever
    dousing the flame
    of life's endeavor

    i live again
    until the end
    thoughout your grief
    is my relief

    Act of Breathing
    By nastyjman

    Breathe in,
    fresh loaves by the sleeping sun.
    Salient sea whispering nearby;
    sparkling sands beneath our souls.

    Exhale,
    what we had left behind;
    what you had tried to forget;
    what I had fought to escape.

    Inhale,
    burning words searing through my ear;
    warming thoughts dancing in your darkness
    a touch warming the skin of our heart.

    Breathe out,
    family, friends and relatives;
    work, office, paper and plastic;
    homes, houses, lawns and home loans

    Alive,
    the heavens are
    while darkness crept,
    lulling the afternoon
    into sleep.

    Guilt
    By fish1

    A sense of relief
    It is not well-deserved
    By those who cause grief
    Yet that is for whom it is reserved

    The righteous will fret
    For what strife they have caused
    But the guilty are met
    With outrageous applause

    Personal accountability?
    It was not me
    Though clearly I'm guilty
    Can I not see?

    It's only wrong if one is caught
    Let yourself be absolved of sin
    With guilt, do not be fraught
    Just don't search within
