Discussion in 'Bi-Weekly Poetry Contest Archives' started by Banzai, Apr 17, 2012.

    Weekly
    Poetry Contest
    One Hundred and Eighty Nine

We appear to be a day late... Sorry about that.

    The Rules
    • All entries must be on the set theme.
    • Only one entry per member.
    • No editing of entries once posted without my express permission (i.e. PM me and ask).
    • Poems must be titled
    • Entries must not have previously posted on the forums, and are not permitted to be posted for critique until AFTER the contest is completed.
    • Any violation of these rules will result in disqualification of entries, and possibly infraction.

I'm going to be away and very busy over the Easter period, so this contest is going to be open for double the usual time. So the entry stage will be open for six days, closing on Monday 23rd April 2012.

The voting stage will begin immediately, and will be open for three days, ending on Thursday 26th April 2012.

And this week's theme is: (courtesy of Soulfighter-123) Loneliness

The next (190th) contest's theme will be (courtesy of Dullener): Different Stories, and it will be opened on Monday 23rd April 2012.

Be imaginative, have fun, and get writing.

    Banzai

PS: If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me. I don't bite (much).

    Loneliness

Lost upon a canvass of obscurity
    Omitted
Nebulous in a crowd of mediocrity
    Erased
Left adrift in a sea of ambiguity
    Ignored
Numb to hateful taunts in perpetuity
    Eclipsed
Stripped bare of any sense of security
    Silenced

    The Dark Room

    This creature is blind,
    No mirrors,
    No reflection,
    No fame,
    Let the light drown itself,
    No sadness,
    No sympathy,
    No shame.
    The doors remain locked,
    No intruders,
    No connections,
    No name.

I also get a chance one day to see you like me
You’ll be thirsty and will not hide your thirst
You’ll roam alone in dark and deep dream
You’ll get old day by day.. No companion
I suffered the similar punishment with loneliness
    You will suffer the same
Where you never get a desert or a thirst
At the end you’ll revise the memories and say
Your courtship was better than loneliness this way

    Trapped in a scientist's refrigerator
with all his frozen cats to disect later,
an old radio looping the top pop,
    among loose deli meat
    and a mirror,
    I sit cramped
over charts of an x-rayed heart,
graphing the toy robots tearing apart
    calculations and accusations drawn,
    as tight as a string
    of broken art
    I am,
kept suffering in this experiment of grated air
by an indifferent and the audience he shares,
crowded with beauty and basil and bread
    bought with lottery tickets printed
    on locks of hair,
    I wait
    through songs sung too familiar
    to future fantasies too similar
to the lonely laws of quasi-science
    questioning love,

    I surrender
    by the plastic locked.

    Still

    I sit and frown upon,
    this picture before me.
    My parents, my siblings
    Years ago,
In a millieu now completely forgotten -
    My home.
    I miss them so much,
    My foster brothers and sisters,
    are dear to me, however...
they are but libels compared to
    those sharing my flowing blood.

    Still...

The anguish and grief severs me
    from head to toe,
    deep in my mind...
    I keep telling myself,
that my stale heart has mended.
    Yet it is not so..
    Oh,

How I wish it were so...

    Woe is me.

    Oh, woe is me.
I shall forever envy every walking soul I encounter in this judgmental society.
I do not feel the freedom - reminiscent of a lonesome apple, waiting patiently on a single branch...just waiting in solitary desperation for somebody to come and release me - to free me from this abandonment. To bestow upon me a friend.
I feel hidden away from humanity - shoved aside and concealed like a gravestone inscription on the verge of silently fading away. A gravestone smothered in conspicuous green moss.
Woe is me, for I stand alone.
