Weekly Poetry Contest (219) Voting - Apocalypse

Discussion in 'Bi-Weekly Poetry Contest Archives' started by Banzai, Jan 1, 2013.

    Poetry Contest
    Two Hundred and Nineteen
    Voting

    Vote, and vote often!

And this week's theme was: (courtesy of me) Apocalypse

Voting will end on Friday 4th January 2013.

Voting for yourself is entirely at your own discretion. I'm frankly sick of discussion on the matter, so any in here will be deleted. If you want to vote for yourself, go for it, but I personally wouldn't do that unless I genuinely believed mine was the best.

The winning poem will be stickied for a week in the poetry contest.

Oh, and if I catch anyone cheating, their entry will be removed from the contest and you will be unable to enter a poem into the contest for a month. Sorry to be such an ogre about this, I don't want to be, but rules are rules and are in place for valid reasons. If you can not follow the rules, you face the consequences.

Best of luck to all entrants, and happy voting.

    Same old song and dance
    By Tales of Anima

    The end of the world,
    A familiar song
    Water, earth, ice, and fire,
    The composer's instruments

    Innocent eyes look around,
    How?
    A cataclysm looks back
    Why?

    Tired feet and weary bones;
This number is old to me
    Virgin ears and youthful souls!
    This routine is nothing new

    The end of the world,
    A familiar song
    Life, death, peace, and war,
    It's nothing new

    My Apocalypse
    By zebra

The end of my world cannot be predicted
by Mayans or Evangelics or Crazies.
    My world ends
when your moon-face no longer lights up my sky
    with freckle-stars.
The end of my world cannot be exacted
    by me, at least.
    My world will end
when your tree-limbs no longer entangle my body,
when your wind-whisper no longer tickles my ears,
when your earthen-heart no longer quakes upon my breast.

    A date unknown...
    One that comes to all.
    A date unknown...
    Even the mighty fall.

    Down...
    Down...
    Down...
    Rock bottom.

    Dark...
    Alone...
    Broken...
    So alone...

    A date unknown...
    Never forgotten.
    A date unknown...
    A perfect fruit, gone rotten.

    Sticks and stones.
    Here alone.
    Bare bones...
    Here alone.

    A date unknown...
    The day my world fell.
    A date unknown...
    Saw everything shot to hell.

    Rock bottom...
    A place I knew.
    A path...
    Followed through.

    Apocalypse...
    A date I know.
    Aftermath...What remains...
    Much I have to show.

    Life...
    Another day ahead.
    Words upon a page.
    Stories yet unsaid.

    Slower, softer, gentler.
    Now...
    A date unknown...
    Showed me how.

    Curtain Call
    By Lewdog

    Fleeting fingers fumble,
Reaching for all that is nought.
    Money means nothing for today,
This path can not be bought.

The time is nye with tomorrows gone,
Yesterdays of worship were all golden.
Spirits and demons weigh on scales,
With sides to be given not chosen.

Soon the etheral sceptor has risen,
It's fall becomes the signal to attack.
The end is not far from how its written,
The curtain closes, the world fades to black.
