Weekly Poetry Contest (221) Voting - Nothingness

Discussion in 'Bi-Weekly Poetry Contest Archives' started by Banzai, Jan 14, 2013.

    Weekly
    Poetry Contest
    Two Hundred and Twenty One
    Voting

    Vote, and vote often!

And this week's theme was: (courtesy of Timewalker) Nothingness

Voting will end on Thursday 17th January 2013.

Voting for yourself is entirely at your own discretion. I'm frankly sick of discussion on the matter, so any in here will be deleted. If you want to vote for yourself, go for it, but I personally wouldn't do that unless I genuinely believed mine was the best.

The winning poem will be stickied for a week in the poetry contest.

Oh, and if I catch anyone cheating, their entry will be removed from the contest and you will be unable to enter a poem into the contest for a month. Sorry to be such an ogre about this, I don't want to be, but rules are rules and are in place for valid reasons. If you can not follow the rules, you face the consequences.

Best of luck to all entrants, and happy voting.

    The city’s soul
    Beats to the top; nonstop
Wanting to hear the bodies drop
    Always in control.

    In the twilight
    Footprints scatter; antimatter
Settling to sleep amongst the chatter
    Giving up the fight.

    But in the dark
    Individual digress, acquiesce
    Defeated, fading into nothingness
    Beating like a heart.

    Frustration
    By Tales of Anima

    From the hallowed halls of
    The Elite
    The Great
    and Powerful

    My path to the future
    Was Clear,
    Was Open;
    How Infinite!

    The world that awaited
    Had Chaos
    Had Fright
    and Confusion

My pot of gold was void
    No Milk,
    No Honey;
    How Meaningless!

    Stuck in a dead-end job
    I Wonder
    I Wilt
    and Agonize

    Conundrum
    By Darkkin

    A conundrum of nothingness...
A word, which in and of itself,
    Is a word, a something...
    Not a nothing...

    A nothing is, well...

    The aforementioned void above.
    A total absence...

    No word, thought...
    Deed or dream.
    It is an abeyance...
    Of all and sundry.

    I slipped.
    Slid to a puddle
    sat in the middle
    splashed
    like the ugliest bird:
    no breadcrumb raised my spirits.
    I flapped
    sodden wings
and my voice, oh I tried to sing,
    but a croak,
    and as the heavens opened
the water rose, covered my nose
    I choked...
    Hear my cry
was at the pond I died.

    Always Something
    By Drusy

    An echo, a pinwheel galaxy;
    Where negative and positive collide
And the number zero is a wreath of infinity.
    There is no nothing.
