Gotta be the first at something... hmm, hmm, hmm... the first... wife & husband moderator team? Betcha you haven't had one of those yet, ha! We'll see how long it takes before we end up in a warning war between one another.
Congrats, T.K! And trust me, you are the first of a lot of things, you just need to figure out which.
so, are you two gonna moderate as a 'team' or individually, duking it out [or cancelling each other's ruling out] when on opposing sides? and, as for your being the first female mod, kat, have you any idea what the gender [m/f] split is on the site?... are we gals a small minority, or closer to parity?
Individually, though we'll see if we end up on opposing sides at some point I don't honestly know. Should dig around a bit. Some members don't disclose their sex, some might lie about it... Tack så mycket! And it's onneksi olkoon
@Lewdog... Is that a lemur?! And thanks @Michael Collins I'm not entirely sure how Koskenkorva would affect moderating. I would imagine there'd be more gibberish and progressive usage of the English language in my posts.
Congratulations, guys. While I'm kissi...handing out compliments, congratulations on getting such ridiculously good English levels too. Don't know how you did it. I don't think I could get my Spanish that good if you gave me the Holy Grail and a time machine. This applies to a lot of other non-native English speakers on here as well; it's seriously impressive that you manage to hold your own against people who have been listening to English since the word push.
For the record, holy grails and time machines are not well suited for learning Spanish. Spanish lessons might be of more help. The non-native speakers have the advantage, though. They've actually been taught to speak and write English properly. The rest of us just kind of pick it up willy-nilly, and often have no idea what we're actually doing.
@Patra Felino Thanks I think a lot of it has to do with how much one is exposed to the language. When you keep hearing it everywhere -- as is the case with English -- it kind of like sneaks up on you and you find yourself remembering words and expressions you never intentionally memorized or practiced. @minstrel That's a good theory. Learners have to take a more analytical look at the language right from the beginning. You learn how it's built and how it works, the logic -- or lack thereof -- behind it. Don't make me explain how Finnish works. Actually, there're probably like 2 people in the world who can anyway.
