Wow I have lots of favourite movies, so in no particular order: Gone in 60 Seconds, Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, Terminator Trilogy, Serenity, Underworld, Underworld Evolution. Blade Triogy, Bad Boys 1&2, Saw Trilogy, Queen of the Damned, The crow and the Matrix Trilogy Mainly action or horror type stuff... lol
Pan's Labyrith The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Behind the Mask:The rise of Leslie Vernon Alien Aliens Dead Man Walking The Seven Samurai Hellboy Metroplis (Original and Anime) Princess Monoke Nausica and the Vally of the wind Spirited Away Every Godzilla movie eva'(except the american remake) The Phantom of the Opera (original) Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Kung Fu Hutsle Nosferatu
Yeah Dushechka, I know what you mean. As Roger Ebert put it "When you hear 'Dracula' you smile, but when you hear 'Nosferatu' you eat a lemon." There is just this really creepy aura around the film when you watch it. Want another great silent film? I can't believe I forgot this one but, "The Cabnit of Dr. Caligari" is great. Also I'm sorry TVDinner but my inner child was crying his eyes out the whole time! They could have made up for it by adding jet Jaguar tough...
Darn, your knowledge of B-movies has defeated me. Vampire in Brooklyn, that sounds funny. Anything like Friday the 13th:? Jason takes Manhattan?
my new all time favourite movie is Of Mice and Men. OMG, that film is amazing, i was crying in the middle of the classroom watching that (yes, very pathetic) i just love it. owwww, and nother sad one we watched in class if Ehose's Life is it Anyway? it is about a quadripligic man and his fight to commit euthanasia, and it is really depressing and i cried my eyes out. both amazing films
My favourite is Made in Heaven. It's a soppy tale but it made me think. What Dreams May Come is another along similar lines that I like. I also like Ever After, The Dark Crystal, Labrynth, Legend, Dances with Wolves, Last of the Mohicans, Lord of the Rings Trilogy and anything with Hugh Grant in. I also watched a film on TV once called The Legend of Snowy River that I really enjoyed but I can't find any trace of it on the internet (it's not the Australian one but the story of one of Mary Ingles walk home along the river after being taken by Native Americans and stared Linda Carter)
I like CRANK. And both the Transporter movies, despite their lacking of something, I like Ever After, and lots of other movies. Can't really decide. Hmm, Shaun of the Dead had me laughing out loud and I watched it a gazzilion of times and have recently watched Hott Fuzz. Those guys are brilliant. Oh and The Little Mermaid (Disney version) will always have a tiny piece of my fav movie heart because it was the first movie I ever watched in a cinema. And I still love the idealism of the movie. *sigh*
We watched that in RS, I think... Is it the one where the sculpter is crushed under a statue, or something?
Das Boot and Der Untergang (downfall)- I love german WW2 films! Also Hable con ella (talk to her) and todo sobre mi madre (all about my mother) - great spanish films!!! And All about Eve - Bette Davis
as in the 80's classic with David Bowie, The Labyrinth? please say some one else has heard of it. "dance magic Dance magic, jump magic jump magic, put that magic spell on you." yea, we wanted it in R.E. when we were studing euthanasia. i cried my eyes out and then there was lads laughing when he fell out of the bed!! :O
Oh how could i have forgotten 'The Great Dictator' - that film is the funniest ever. I love Charlie Chaplin. Plus it was actually made during WW2, so quite advanced. Favourite serious film would be Das Boot or Downfall
I saw Inside Job again this morning and it is really fabulous. All movies should be made with such craft and brilliance IMO
The first one I remember seeing at the cinema was "The Day Mars Invaded Earth." It was in black and white, and even at my young age, I could tell it was not a very well made movie. Around the same time was "The Lost World." That was a bit better, and they were even able to afford to release it in color.
Nowadays we really do take things like coloured films for granted, I mean I can't even remember the last black and white film I watched. I will have seen one though.
Back in those days, most color films were Technicolor, which used three black and white film strips exposed through color filters using a beam splitter. The cameras themselves were very expensive, and the post-processing to turn the result into a single, colored film strip was also costly. Plus with three separate film strips, any one of which could suffer the usual mishaps that take place during filming and processing, extra takes often were needed to be sure a usable one was in the can.
