A lawyer. Yeah, I know, but not a defence lawyer (the kind that have to sell their souls to be in practice,) but a prosecutor. Now that I am older, I see that there are other fields I probably would have looked at like tenents rights, maybe publishing law, that sort of thing. But, I'm happy being a writer.
Well lets see. . . Pre-School area my mom told me I wanted to be a Lawyer / Doctor ; probably for money the way she talks about it. I tend to wonder if she was trying to put ideas in my head... Elementary School: Astronaut was certainly at the top, but writing was a close second. Middle-school: Still wanting to be an astronaut, but knowing the chances were slim I didn't try for it. Even writing was 'down the drain' as I wasn't interested in English in school. Though near the end of middle school I found my calling as a Game Developer when a friend showed me a few things about programming. High school: Game Developer -> which lead to going to college for such and where I am today. Although I have since had thoughts of; Mechanical Engineering, Racing and back to the Writing thing.
Speaking of a teaching career, Cogito, in my high school years, I wanted to be a history teacher working in my high school like the teachers there had already. Of course, once I realized the majority of my students would be football jocks and girls screaming about Twilight (or whatever big thing that'll be out there when I'm of an age to get a job) and none of them would care a whift about my beloved subject, I discarded it. I could always be a history professor, but then I'd have to write books/articles/journals for the university. I'm not sure if that's required or if that's because the professor decided to do it.
When I was younger, I wanted to be a social worker or a federal agent. Now, I've settled for more realistic goals. I'm majoring in mental retardation & technical writing, then eventually getting my phd. Not sure what the masters is going to be yet...
I want, like I have always, to be a fire truck. Sadly, this is apparently a 'very silly' idea, so I'll pick journalism instead.
My big brother wanted to be a fire truck till he was 18. Then he got married and grew up a bit (a very little bit)
Do you need a masters to get a PhD? I don't plan on any post-graduate schooling, so I haven't researched either very thoroughly, I'm sorry to say.
I wanted to be a teacher in elementary school, but then I realized I'm horrible at teaching people things. I've wanted to be one of the X-Men for most of my life. I used to want to open my own movie theater. I've had lots of things that I wanted to be, but I'm too tired to think of a lot of them. Some of them, I got a job in the field just to see what it was like, so I got over those... Now, I would like to be a professional organizer, like Peter Walsh.
Cowboy Spaceman/Ninja... No, I'm not kidding. I actually wanted to be a cowboy spaceman and, on my off hours, be a ninja to fight against the evil Nazi's and their leader Dr. Alphonse. Then I was rudely informed I could never do that because they do not allow horses or swords in space, so I decided I wanted to be a lawyer instead. For some reason I thought Gordon Gecko was one and he was awesome in that movie. Then I hit puberty. After that I pretty much didn't care. Granted, a few years back I made my biggest mistake: I started caring again. Now I'm an unemployed writer whose only claim to glory is a self published ebook. Oh well, at least I still got my indie cred. Unfortunately that cred doesn't work when buying food.
I'm sure I'm missing a few, but here most of them are: Pilot, explorer, teacher, professor, researcher, actor, writer, cultural geographer, psychiatrist, profiler, Guinevere, FBI agent.
