I just realized... There are silver AND gold medals. Since I can't seem to find the thread about them, can someone explain the difference?

For example: why does Tenderizer have one gold and one silver medal for short story contests? If they're both for winning, shouldn't they both be gold? I'm confuzzled.

They are based on the number of times won. The first win you get a bronze. The next win you get a silver, then the third a gold. I think for every win after that you get all gold ones.

There's at least one colony of them in Gainesville, Florida. There are several across Florida and in other southern states. For reasons that sound more political than factual, no one wants to say that they are an established breeding colony. Regardless, we did a little archeological dig in one of my anthro classes just south of Gainesville and while everyone was terrified of gators in the swampy area, it was these guys that we actually saw.
