I don't plan to officially enter it or anything, but I will use it as a reason to write like crazy every day.

I'm entering but will probably give up around day 10 like every year beforehand.

I took on so much this fall that I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, and November is the fullest month of the season. So, hell, yeah, I'll set out to write a 50,000 word novel in November. Sounds like fun. I've successfully reached the goal twice in the last ten years or so, and can't get much crazier than I am already, so...

    I am.
And im hosting it at my library, too.

Ive been trying to think about whether to start a new project from scratch or continue to work on an existing project thats still in its early stages.

Ooo, in the library where Gregorian chants spontaneously play over the intercom? I wanna come do NaNoWriMo at your place.

Didn't write anything yesterday (in terms of actual words typed I mean), but I did crack open the story after a couple of weeks away from it and look at it, which started the wheels turning again. And I thought through what I need to do to fix the mistakes I had made. Maybe today I can actually get the words flowing again.

I tried to do Nano in the past, but I never reached that 50k words marker. And these days I'm working even slower. Good luck to everyone who is doing it this year!

I decided to go ahead and register, but the webswite is weird and not easy to navigate. I registered under the name Darkmatters, which is my blog name. So far all I'm seeing on the website is stuff about entering different workshops or events or filling out my profile and project info etc. Man, I just want to write! All that stuff seems like massive distractions.

Am I supposed to update my profile every day with the number of words I've written or something? This is confusing.

I'm surprised you've been on the forum so long and haven't encountered nanowrimo before. Yeah, you don't write on NanoWriMo, all you do is fill in your product info and update your word count everyday and it shows a graph of your progress. That's all NanoWriMo (the website) does. (I mean, besides groups with chatrooms, I think, but I haven't used that feature in years)

Oh I knew what it was, I just never signed up before or wanted to. Not really sure why I did it just now, it was on a lark. I thought the main purpose of it was to show your progress to everyone to help motivate you, so I assumed it keeps track of word count or something.

So far I gotta say, I think I prefer just using my progress journal in here.

I mean, it does show your progress to people you add as your buddies, I think, and it does keep track of word counts, you just have to enter your word count manually each day and it shows you how much left you have to go, your average word count, the average word count you need to complete nanowrimo, etc.

I like the little graph thingies where I can watch my word count ascend or know when I've been slacking off. Don't like much else about the site, but I do like the graphs. JT, I'm there under the same name I use here, but I think I'm in private mode.

5726 words and the story is already taking a different track than the one I intended. Heck, I've never written a family epic before. That might be, um, novel.

A little late to the party, but decided to sign up for this year. Same username as here, TheOtherPromise.

Doubt I'll hit the 50k mark, but hopefully it will encourage me to write everyday.

i'm 1,794 words in to my NaNo project, but after going to an author event last night (and getting a signed copy of her book!), the need to return to an old draft is strong :confuzled:

-slaps cheek- no! must stay on track!!

There's nothing saying you can't use NaNo to rewrite an existing manuscript.

Just wanted to let @J.T. Woody and @TheOtherPromise know I deleted my Nano account because I'm definitely not at a point in my story where I can write a lot. Turns out I'm at a point where I need to really think things through in a big way instead. Keep it going—you were both doing great last time I checked in!

I’m using it as a bit of incentive to push through the first draft of a novella I started back in October, but I’m doubtful I’ll finish by the end of the month. This current scene keeps turning into a square when my outline calls for a round hole.

Thanks for letting me know. Good luck with your project. Hopefully you can think through what you need to and get to writing more soon.

I just forced myself to write something this evening after writing nothing yesterday.
Yesterday consisted of a full day if work (snow makes people crazy, for some reason :confuzled:), then going to the gym, and me coming back so exhausted that i zonked out at 8pm.
today was pretty much the same, but instead of zonking out at 8, i forced myself to write for an hour. came up with 1,600 words (cool...)

now i can sleep guilt free....
