    What Spice

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Leaka, Jun 7, 2009.

You know how when we cook we uses spices. I use the spice idea to think of life. That life is a giant pot and you put spices[which are personalities] into the pot to create flavor.
Like I think since Salt can be an overpowering flavor I see people who are selfish and out going as salt because they tend to be overpowering people.
Paprika would be someone who is slightly bitter by themselves, but when in the right dish nearly camouflages without flavor I see someone who is shy and tends not to be out going much as Paprika.
Pepper is a more potent flavor and sticks out, but not in the way salt does. Someone who is confident and out going is pepper.
So, with those as examples. What spice would you say you are?

I say I am Paprika. Shy, but bitter at times.

    That isn't a spice.
I'm talking Cumen, Salt, Pepper, Praprika, Chili Powder, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, etc.

Joel says I would be cinnamon. Because I can be strong, but I also have a lot of flavor.

    His words...

Cinnamon is very strong and slight spicy. They tend be very bold people and full of spunk.
    Nice to see cinnamon.

    Welcome to the world cinnamon.

@Torana: It isn't about the smell, but the personality.

Cinnamon is also really dry. Ever heard of the cinnamon challenge? (the secret to winning is not coughing it all out!)

I'd probably be garlic powder... not something you can really enjoy without anything else, and it needs to be with the right ingredients to not be terrible.

I would have to say Tarragon. It is a flavor that adds so much, yet can never really be identified. It is one of the main flavors in Jagermeister and I love to use it on beef, especially if I am making gravy. It has almost an addicting quality to it when in gravy.

Now how that relates to me as a person...well...mysterious, addicting, and bold would be alright with me as traits.

    I know, but I just couldn't resist posting that. <giggle> :D :D

Plus, I wouldn't have a clue what spice I would be.

Cajun blend. Complex, hard to characterize, and just a bit hot. ;)

I'm akashiso ("red" shiso, but it's really purple) - nobody's sure what to make of me at first - i'm wierd and sweet. but if you get to know me, you see the hidden, slightly pungent depth. and no matter how long you know me, i'll always be just a bit wierd. :D

ETA: and yes, i'm a aquired taste... (quite so!)

Mrs. Dash. A blend of all kinds of things that you never would have thought to put together yourself, but works well in just about any situation.
