Anders Breivik. Ok, he's not fictional and perhaps that adds a lot to it, but still -- the type of person you could pass on the street and (if you even noticed him) would think was probably an ordinary, nice guy, but in reality has the coldness of heart to whistle a tune while on a killing spree.

That, and parents who abuse and sometimes even kill their own children. All too often, they too seem like perfectly ordinary people to their neighbours.

I guess the general theme here is obvious -- psychopaths who blend in perfectly. You'll never know where they are.

I think a character that creeped me out more than most was "Pope" from the Austrailian movie "The Animal Kingdom." He was sort of a quiet guy but willing to get loud when he became violent and upset. He seemed to realize he was a bad person which made him slightly creepier because he was unwilling to do anything about it.

Characters are creepy when they are driven by their own reality, with little respect for actual reality and its inhabitors. I think their creepiness would be evident in their ignorance of boundries, and their unpredictibility.

someone who does horrific things, yet acts like it's normal. Nothing phases him- he always seems to be in control, acting with out any concern for anyone else

Something which seems harmless, but has that thing you can't quite put your finger on-or maybe you can, but you don't know why it's scaring you-that disturbs you to death.

The Beldam in Coraline has button eyes. Buttons aren't creepy, but they're very creepy on the Beldam. I think it's "nice, loving mother" form was worse than the spider metal hand thing. At least then I knew what I was dealing with. It was obvious, at least, who was the enemy.

The creepypasta "Pass on the King" has users who do nothing but post "#[random number] PASS ON THE KING", which is very creepy as it's harmless. Too harmless.

Beyond Birthday can be pretty shocking when you first meet him. Your mind first registers a happy looking teenager sitting in a bathtub and smiling. Then it registers all the bloody.

Little girls with an all-knowing kind of smile that seem intelligent far beyond their years. They never seem to be scared of anything and they're always out and about late at night.

Yes, that "Human Centipede' movie was a strange one.
