Compare (of the stage announcer variety)

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by OurJud, Aug 7, 2016.

This is driving me mad! It doesn't matter what search words I use, I can't make the internet understand I need the spelling for the name of the guy who announces the acts on stage. It will only give me compare, as in 'to judge one against the other'.

I tried spelling it 'compair' but it still didn't get the hint. I even trying typing 'announcer' into a thesaurus. Still nothing.

How in God's name do you spell 'compare' of the stage announcer variety?

Oh definitely. I only know it because I went looking for it a few years' back. And I remembered it because it's so stupid.
