Actually, you're not incorrect! Notice the difference in spelling. Americans spell it 'aluminum.' So you're pronouncing it correctly, if you're an American. The British spell theirs 'aluminium' and pronounce it accordingly. I took lots of stick when I moved here, and said "alu min um." However, I looked it up in my Webster's and discovered I was pronouncing it correctly in American English. So now, if somebody makes fun of my pronunciation, I just tell them they need to accept there are other dialects of the English language, and that's just one example. I got into it one day with somebody who corrected my pronunciation of 'schedule.' Of course I had said "sked jool" as an American would. They got snooty with me and said "It's SHED yool, dear." I got lucky, because of his profession. I said: "Just like a SHOOL teacher to say that!" That shut him up!
Ostensible. I feel smart when I say it. I sometimes wedge it into sentences where it doesn't belong. Ostensible shellfish! (Wow, that guy is really smart!)
I've always had a thing for the word 'milk.' I'm not sure why, though. Edit: I'll also add that my least favourite word is 'puke,' for obvious reasons.
I like the word puke - it sounds exactly what it is - kinda like fart. I also like sound- y words - Argh! Whomph Blat Plash drizzle Oof! Mmmm Erm
