unfortunately, she does the same in all of the books in this series, which makes me have to believe she's pandering to the lesbian market... that's sad, since she writes good mysteries otherwise and all that relationship filler puts me off reading any more of that series...
I quite like filler chapters because I am the sort of reader that wants to know lots about every character and every place. However, there is very little worse than a novel or TV show that overly uses such fillers; it just ends up distracting everyone from the main story.
