    When does literature become erotica?

Discussion in 'Erotica' started by penandpaper, Oct 3, 2012.

This may sound strange, but there are dozens of novels in which sex scenes are present. One example would be Cloudstreet which is even taught in Australian high schools. However, in my writing, I find that I worry that if taken out of context it would seem quite strange. So does sex have a place in writing and how can you make sure it's literature, not erotica?

yes, it can have a place...

as for how you can do it with good taste, just make sure it's needed to advance the plot, or define a character, and not only to 'turn on' the reader... and don't overdo it...
