Where do I indicate this on my manuscript?

Discussion in 'Publishing' started by katica, Jun 12, 2011.

I'm submitting a short story to a magazine. They want a cover letter, not a query letter. They want me to put in my cover letter what category my story fits into (in this case, its fiction short story) and also whether or not I have a simultaneous submission out there (they allow this, but I do not). Where would I put that information on my cover letter and how would I word it?

Right now, what I have up there is below the word count on the upper right . . .

    Fiction Short Story
    No simultaneous submissions

Is that good or not? Should I word it differently or put it somewhere else?

Thanks. You guys have already helped me a ton with formatting this. =)

Are you sure they don't want anything more specific than fiction short story? Maybe the genre?

Yes. They have Fiction Short Story, Non-fiction, One Minute Video, and Poetry as their listed categories that they put in parenthesis next to the request to include it.

then it's ok as you have it, in re 'category'...

but the wording on the simsubs is off... should be 'not a simultaneous submission' to make better sense, imo...
