Why not? Nutrients are nutrients. If she has it and wants to give it away, I say go for it.

Seems like a bold line to cross. She wasn't just giving her breast milk to the dog...but letting the dog actually suckle.

As long as her own child isn't also nursing, in which case there might be a risk of passing diseases, I don't see why there should be an issue.

A friend if mine once made cookies and ran out of milk so she just substituted breast milk instead.

We drink the milk from cows and goats.

Yeah but we don't have a cow or goat that when we are thirsty we just pull up a stool and suck it straight from the teet.

Squeamish? It's a pretty minor distinction, if you think about it.

It's not as though the puppy has to worry about the cleanliness or hairiness of the teat.

Actually, I've heard of exactly that happening. I don't remember the context or the era, but I do remember that the reaction was "Ew, unsanitary!" rather than "Oh, my God, taboo violation!"

It's just food. We as humans emotionally tangle up mammary glands with sex, to the point that some people disapprove of even using them for their intended purpose, but when they produce milk, it's just food.

It'd only be taboo if she was obsessed with breast feeding animals whether they needed it or not as it'd fall into the what the hell category.

However, if she hadn't done it, the puppy would have died. So, she did the right thing.
There's nothing wrong or gross about it, human milk isn't sacred or some weird scary thing. It's a nutrient filled liquid to feed babies.

You could say "She could have went to a humane society or somewhere where there is bound to be a lactating dog." but that doesn't make what she did gross. She did what she could to save a life and no one was harmed.
