My cousin is turning 7 next week, and she doesn't seem to have too many friends her own age so she asked me to come, cause we get along pretty good. I was thinking a CD or something, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start. Dolls are creepy so I don't think I'll get one of those, and I wouldn't know what clothes she likes, or her size. It's been a while since I was 7 so I'm not sure what she would actually want to get. Any ideas?
A seven year old now, and a seven year old ten plus years ago, is* extremely different.. It probably just depends on her interests, (if you know them?). When I was a kid I loved books, video games and the occasional musical instrument. Please tell me she's one of the few who actually doesn't already have a cell phone? *shudder* * are? lol...
She likes reading, drawing, and playing weird little games with trolls... or pretending to at least. I don't see her that often, when I'm there it's usually to visit her mum mainly, though usually I spent most of the time playing games or looking at her drawings or whatever. No, she doesnt have a mobile phone, and she can't play sports or anything very physical. I'm just not sure what books/CD's/Movies would be appropriate. She hates being thought of as a 'kid', if you know what I mean.
If there is a mall or store she really likes close by give her 40 bucks and take her out for a shopping trip. You get to spend time with her, you don't have to worry about getting the right thing, and she has the thrill of spending lots of money.
I can't take her out anywhere myself. I could just ask her, but I like to buy presents that are a surprise. That'll be plan B I guess. I could help her look for some stuff online though.
honestly, never buy a kid books. they tend to be the most unappreciated gift you can get them, unless they were a geek like me. get her like the Bratz DVD or the lastest Girls Alowd CD or something. or some bright pens and stationary so she can draw with, girls love that. i still do
I've found most parents don't like that idea. I know my Dad didn't. No matter how much my brother and I asked he never brought me home any explosives and he used them all the time at work.
why can't boys be normal. my dad kept buying me like cars and bangy stuff even though we are both girls. he just wanted to play.
When I get completely stuck on what to buy for someone,i find that gift cards always do the trick, and saves you buying them something theyre going to shove in the back of the closet the second you leave.
Well, I asked her, and she wanted some drawing stuff, so I'll get her that and some cash and a card. I think she'll be happy with that. She is a pretty good little artist.
That sounds like a wonderful idea Montag. With children of that age it is excellent to give them gifts that help to utilize the more creative side of their minds. Drawing utensils are fun and educational and I always find that children love receiving anything as a gift that is educational. I have not come across a child yet that hasn't received an educational toy or utensil of various kinds that has not enjoyed the gift thoroughly. The only other thing I would ever suggest for a child is something that they can play with outside, like a ball or something to do with sports to help encourage them to live a healthy lifestyle. Well glad that you found a gift for her.
Every birthday/christmas I remember (and even now) i've asked for stationary and books and stuff like that.... Don't poison the poor kid with Girls aloud!! I should be suprised... I'm not... I've been around you too long. Lol. I always find my younger sister the hardest person to buy for... we have completely different tastes in music, dvds, clothes, games... even books. I usually buy her arty type things like paints or crayons or paper... Usually spend quite a lot on stuff at christmas for her. If it helps anyone else, clothes for kids around that age are usually sized pretty well. Its not till you get to teenage years and you buy someone something and its either: a) Too small and they get upset and think they're fat... b) Too big and they think you think they're fat...
