    I don't really have this problem 'cause usually when I write, my brain kind of like... gives me the word in its spelled form and I just write it down as I "see" it. Yeah, I don't hear the word as much I see it, and when I see it, I see it exactly as it's spelled, and its pronunciation rarely interferes. This might be because my first language is pronounced exactly as it's spelled; one sound - one letter. Not sure.

    However, I do need to check that I'm using the "correct" spelling, especially in words like plow vs. plough, draught vs draft or sledge vs. sled. I don't want to mix and match UK and US spelling conventions, but sometimes I remember the "wrong" version.
