Not sure if this is the best place for it but yeah, I'm just a 20 year old wanting to improve my skills. My favorite genre by far is Fantasy and I constantly daydream about writing a story. Is this forum a good place for asking questions? IE "what word should I use to describe this sound?" etc I'm just the kind of person with annoying little questions like that.. maybe. Not entirely sure. But uh yeah, hi..
OH holy crap I meant to post this in the Introduction Section. How the hell it ended up here I have no idea. Anyways I guess I'll ask my question. I've been wanting to open up my story with the sound of a lot of factories being laid down and... there's been this one sound I can't describe at all. And wow, do I love this sound. Okay first few seconds of this song, particular at 0:09. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wmc3yji0G84 WHAT do you call that sound? Its so familiar, yet I can't figure out what it is. Like, what word (or phrase/sentence) would you associate that with. Was it a hammer striking steel? What was that!? Probably a really strange question, but I've been out of touch with reality for a while now. I seriously should go outside sometime maybe.
It sounds like a hammer striking a metal chain. But, you could go something more figurative like "the sound of giant's armored boot striking stone," or "the sound of a demonic horse pawing the ground," to make it more spicy.
Holy hell. Sir.. That. Is perfect. Your completely right, it does sound like all those things. Ha, I'm liking this forum already..
