Turning off text blinker

You know that thing that blinks where you're typing your text? Yeah, well I managed to get it to just stay still instead of flashing on my old laptop, but I forget how I did it and want to turn it off again. It's very annoying! Please help

 

The cursor? I didn't know it was a problem. You could try getting it to stop via your operating system's Control Panel, but I honestly don't know if I'm right.

 

Did you press the Insert key? It's easy to check. First, write a few letters. Then simply put the cursor in front of them and type. If you pressed Insert, you will write over the other letters, instead of in front of them.

 

Arrrrghhh... I'd never noticed the blinking cursor before and now it's going to drive me nuts!

If you continuous typing without stooping, the cursor won't blink. I know it's not the fix you were looking for but hey, I'm just saying

 

I like the blinking. It's a prompting to keep going!

 

I don't think switching to insert mode will turn off the blinker.

This reminds me of an old stamp on deviantART that had a picture of the blinking cursor with the words "it mocks me" underneath it.

Anyway... what operating system are you using?
