So, right now I am waiting for the police to come and have a look at my freshly broken-into car. I am ten kinds of furious! 1) I feel as violated as all-get-out. 2) I should be at work, earning money. I am not. 3) I have to wait for the cops to come. Who knows when they will get here? 4) When the cops get here I know that some paperwork will be filled out, but that nothing more is really going to happen. No one will be caught. 5) The cop is going to insinuate, in some fashion, that I was asking for it. 6) When friends and family become aware, I am going to be bombarded with advice which is already, by definition, a day late and a dollar short. 7) They didn’t even manage to get my stereo out, but they did take the faceplate rendering my stereo worthless. 8) I am going to be angry and out of focus for a week. 9) The almost stolen, and now completely worthless, stereo was a Christmas present from my very caring boyfriend. 10) I really, really, really, want to find the person who did this and go upside their head with a lead pipe. (I’m Puerto Rican, baby. I’m lit!) So, that’s my day. How ‘bout yours?
