Goggle as your exalted god walks among you mortals! Cringe as -

Wasn't that a great way to start getting to know you folks?

Oh, as this is a writing forum, let me tell you some of my reading habits while I'm writing my introduction. Har har. Aren't I funny?

    Bleh.

My latest obsession is over Joe Abercrombie. And it's not just because of his dashing good looks his books are awesome. It's because his debut books are so awesome and because of his dashing good looks. Hey. I'm just here to feed his ego.

    Har har again.

Gee. This is working out splendidly, doncha thing?

Let me try this again, 'eh?

Hai, I hail from the magical land of dropbears, giant rats, and continent-sized country. Or is that country-sized continent?

For those of you who are a degree less awesome than I, (which would be most of you, I confess. ) it means that I come from Australia!

*Hides behind lead sheet as rotten vegetables are thrown*

My favourite genres are High Fantasy (yus, you heard right! And no, my favourite author isn't Tolkien. Please don't stab me. DX ) and Science Fiction! I read a little bit of everything else, and, like everybody else (deep down, everybody wants to be like me. >:D), it has been my childhood aspiration to become an author.

But like most people I seem to have trouble with actually writing the book.

    Aren't I hilarious?

Okay, before you suffer through any more of my wittisms, I'll just glide you through the rest.

I enjoy drawing, reading, writing, and procrastinating. I have started and (almost) completed NaNoWriMo. If you count ten thousand words away 'close' to reaching my goal of 50 000. Aharhar. If you've muddled your way through my post, then you'd probably know that I'm Australian, and that I'm a (fe)male.

Oh, yes, and one last thing, if you find calling my Kysun wierd, you can also call me Kylie. :D

    Rawr.

Hello Kylie, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

Posting your own work should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate.

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!

Hello and welcome from a fellow Aussie!

I am a little disappointed that you forgot to mention hoop snakes, clear fish, and the carnivorous kangaroos.

Have fun and find the words!
