It's not a contest between the two pictures, I am just giving examples.

I like the darker just cause it seems like it has much more depth to it.
Like there is something that makes you ask yourself, what is that?
    What is going on?
    Oh that is neat.
It just sort of opens the realm of imagination.

If it's between those two pictures, then definitely darker. However the pictures seem unbalanced. One is clearly superior to the other.

Ooh, I want a moonplant! That one seems kind of unhealthy though. It's shedding its moons before they reach full size.

    LOL

Even though, the pictures can make you a bit bias. Because the moon plant pic is awesome!

I know. But often examples are key for comparison polls. I.E., do you like pictures like this> (Example) or pictures like this?> Example

It's hard not to vote on strictly the samples. Especially in this case.

And I notice now that you added the bit at the end. Fair enough.

I am a very early morning person, when the sunlight is still away. I tend to stay inside during the day, but I could run and run when the light is down (in fact, I often do). I feel more energized during the witching hours, when most are still sleeping.

I probably have some vitamin D deficiency because of it, but darker atmospheres have always attracted me.

No preference for me. I surround my self with whatever reflects my mood at the time. For example, if I'm feeling melancholy, I listen to melancholy music, when I'm cheerful, I listen to something more upbeat.
    It's a tie I guess.

This just brought to my attention how my avatar and signature are gray, a neutral colour "in between" light and dark. Interesting.

Yang and yin. Neither has any meaning without the other. To focus on one without the other is to embrace neither.

I like light, happy stuff better. But then, I'm scared of the dark (like to the point where walking across the hall from my bedroom to the bathroom in the middle of the night sends me into near-panic attack mode), so I guess there's a reason for that...

Yet, oddly enough, I have a tattoo just of the dark side of a yin yang.

Darker/Melancholy/Mysterious Atmospheres any day of the week!
Why? Because I am not a very bright and bubbly person. I like dark and morbid things, especially horror!! :p

i don't restrict myself in those ways... if i like a picture [or anything], i just like it, regardless of its 'mood' or whatever...

I am a gemini...which I prefer depends on my mood or whim. I agree with Cog that you need both for either to have meaning.
