Yummy as a kid. Blech today.

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Wreybies, Aug 4, 2010.

I was chatting with my pal just now and I was reminded of the fact that as a child I used to love catsup on my white rice.

Today the idea sounds disgusting, but then it was yummy.

    Anything like that for you?

We used to make sugar bread. Just white bread with sugar on it. Ew, thought it was sooo good. The thought of it now is screaming, 'DIABETES!'

My brother and I did that when we were kids!

White bread + butter and then run a stream of sugar over it and let it stick. :)

I did that, too! Also, at one point I remember using hot chocolate mix instead of sugar...

And once, I'm pretty sure I made a mayonnaise sandwich. Yup. Two pieces of bread. Mayonnaise. And I called it a sandwich. I don't even eat mayonnaise anymore.

^ I did that with mustard, Heather! (I still love mustard, though)

I used to eat hot dogs right out of the package- without even cooking them first!

Mustard is good, though! Mayonnaise is... *shudder*

Me too!!!! Urgh, hot dogs...that's one of the "snacks" my sister-in-law packs for my nephew. Sliced up hot dogs. Mmm, healthy.

I would eat a whole can of condensed milk with cookies. I would open the can and throw the cookies inside and eat with a spoon...

I don't know how I was able to. It is waaaay too sweet...

My cousin- who is remarkably scrawny- used to drink ranch dressing like it was a bottle of soda.

    :X

@ Heather- I also hate mayonnaise!!! (I dip my fries in mustard too)

Chocolate, and almost all types of sweets: I don't know why but around the age of 14 I couldn't eat them anymore.

As a toddler I really hated ice cream. Then I became a kid and loved ice cream. I dont like ice cream now, as well as most other creamy things. I used to dip french fries in ice cream like it was catsup.

I really liked to make ice-milk, which was 2 parts water and 1 part milk, which seems really nasty now.

Me too. I dont like mayo and never have. I also hate all mustards and yogurts. But these are all foods that I hated even as a child and still think are nasty now.

A friend got me to try yogurt again two years ago. I swear I almost threw up. Nasty nasty nasty.

I love curd! Yoghurt, to be frank I don't really understand, we don't get much of that here, and what little I had from a packaging stating "yoghurt" was not so good. Though, yoghurt jelly is yummy.

Mostly sugary drinks and or candy/junk food like cheetos. I would eat them by the fist full. Now well, my only indulgence is a rare instance of chocolate. If you do not like mayo for health reasons, avocado is a good substitute.

To each his own. I can stand to have mustard(we use a lot of it in foods) but never mayo. In fact, it's pretty funny. My friends like mayo, so I'm a food hog. Whenever any of them wanted to save their share of a bite they'd coat it with mayo. Sigh, that kept me far away all right.

It's like garlic and onion. Some people can't stand any of these. I like both. I have roated garlic with honey whenever I start getting my tonsilitis. And I never can have any curry w/o onion.

Really no. As a kid, I was pretty fussy about what I would eat. Anything I would eat back then, I would eat now. The converse is not true, though. Many, many things I would eat now I would have turned my nose up at back then.

    Hey! I like mayonaise! :(

Let's see... oh yeah. Meringue. Only because I once ate too many of those. Oh, and I used to eat entire jars of mustard. Though I still like mustard, I wouldn't do that anymore...

    Sugar sandwiches.

    Bread, butter, sugar sprinkled between.

I used to love them back then, but the thought of it now makes my teeth hurt. Yuck!

Hah, looks like you guys beat me to it ;)

I still love sugar and butter together, though. When I bake cakes, I pretty much lick the bowl at every stage, lolol.

    Used to = last week

I should clarify... Though I don't like mayo, ketchup, or what-have-you, I won't not eat something because something I don't usually care for is on it. I'm not picky at all.

It's just that if I was preparing something myself, I wouldn't likely choose to include those things.

Picky eaters are actually one of my pet peeves.

    Na-ah, a bit longer ago.

And I'm not picky at all, really. I'll eat anything (FOOD).

I used to make a sandwich that would make my mother and my grandparents shudder. I laughingly called it an Indigestion Special. It was Muenster cheese, mustard, pickles, and olives.

I should have one for lunch tomorrow. I need to make a grocery run anyway.
