    Your Last words

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Gracia Bee, Sep 13, 2011.

I've been thinking about death a LOT lately
and since words are VERY important in the writing world, what would your LAST ONES be??
I havent figured out mine yet but I want something happy
so I was wondering what yours might be!!!
who knows, you might die next Thursday by a tattered branch the size of a baby whale torn down by the merciless storms!!!!!!!
No time to say goodbye. So at least you know what your final message to the world is.
I hope you dont die tho. that would be sad :(
So i hope you like pondering on that little wonder.
Toodle pop smiley (i hope so!!) peoople!!!

I dunno what I'd want my last words to be, but I think my favourite historically recorded last words belong to US civil war General John Sedgwick:

Hmmm. Interesting. I sometimes think of epitaphs, but not last words.

For most, I suppose, there'll be little eloquence. As much as we'd like to say something profound--"It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to, than I have ever known."--or even odd but memorable--"Kiss me, Hardy."--most of us will pass with more mundane sentiments.

But I know you're talking best case scenario, so, hmmmm... what would they be? "Don't forget to feed the dogs."? I suppose for me the best case would be to have loved one(s) by my side and to say "I love you."

To friends, family - "Be happy."
To the others - "I win!" (they'll always wonder...)

"Come closer. Yes, that's it. The answer is... blue skies."

Then people would scratch their heads and forever try to find a hidden meaning in the words ;-)

If my family was around, it would probably be something boring such as: "I love you". I have a book called 'famous last words', though, so maybe I could look through there for some inspiration. ;)

mine will be, 'THANK YOU!' to who-/what-ever finally freed me from life in this benighted human-made world...

[and please don't get on my case for what is my right to feel what i feel, those of you who disagree with it!]

Well, I actually think it depends on the way I am gonna die. For example, if it´s falling down from a cliff or something like that, I will shout "You win this time, Gravityyyyyy!".

If I am murdered or something like that, I will tell my murderer: "Oh, cmon, that´s the best you can do, you pansy...?"

Since I plan on not seeing my death coming, I'm gonna spend my final seconds thinking, "Wow. Didn't see THAT coming..."

Or if I felt particuarly badass, "I'm not dying, amigos. I'm just gonna go wrestle some angels. Be back in a bit."

One of my favorite historical last words were something along the lines of "It's stopped". I can't remember who said it, but he said it after checking his own pulse.

'Well, this is fun.' or 'I think I'm going to die now... Oh I'm still alive... am I really not dead yet?' or something.

I dunno, haven't really thought about it. I guess it depends on how I'm dying and who I'm with.

    Hmmm, a cheerful thread then.

Knowing me, my last words would be something along the lines of "F*** this shit", or something equally as poetical ;)

It'd be embarrassing to say your last words, and then you don't die after all...

My favorite last words are James Dean's. "That guy's gotta stop... He'll see us."

Can you plan it so perfectly, that your last words will be something meaningful?

If surrounded by loved ones, I'd tell them I loved them, and will keep on loving them.

The romantic in me says it would be bittersweet (or sweet) if one's last word were the name of the one you loved.

Great idea! I'll get working on some less trivial Last Words right now...along the lines of 'This is a rage against the dying of the light...I'm not going quietly...' (But it'll be the unplagiarised form.)
