Hail Hugh Laurie!

By Dave Gale · Sep 15, 2011 · ·
  1. Yesterday I finally decided to pull together all my notes and begin my novel. After putting the final touches to my plans and wanted to make a start today. However last night after getting an early night I woke at 4am, I wasn't in the mood to write so I just lay there thinking everything over. I began to question whether or not I was fully prepared for this. Needless to say the rest of the day was exhausting and I finally ended up having a nap mid-afternoon. When I woke I found that I had lost all motivation to write and I couldn't understand what was going on.

As the evening approached I sat down and put Hugh Laurie's blue album on, which being 22 years old was quite a strange thing to do but I was intrigued to see if it was any good. A couple of songs in my mood completely changed and before long I realised I was typing out what has turned into the first 500 words of my opening chapter. I have to say although they aren't perfect it has completely rejuvenated me and now I have so much motivation to keep writing. I don't know what has happened to me but I'm putting it down to Mr Hugh Laurie A.K.A House. Thankyou Sir!

I'm obviously still slightly tired as I have made a glaring error, it should say "After putting the final touches to my plans, I wanted to make a start today"

It is a big move going from planning to doing and funny how strangely challenging it seems to be able to get those first few words out despite all your negative self-criticisms. I hope the momentum keeps up. Good writing to ya

The first few words are like pulling teeth. Fortunately, most people only have 32, so it shouldn't take too long before the words just fall out haha.

    Wishing you luck~
