My First Blog

  1. Hello, my name is David and I'm completely new to this. I'm not too sure what a blog entails in the long term but for now, let me just tell anyone who reads this a little bit about myself.
I'm currently working through the summer at a local park as a gardener. The work is easy and apart from having to walk miles and miles through out the day I get to enjoy this beautiful sunshine we've had over the midlands during the past two or more months.
I work with two other blokes who are both a lot older than me, in there late 40's I'd say. But they are easier enough to get along with, there isn't the same kind or amount of banter that goes on here unlike at the fencing job I did for a few weeks until the company got closed down by the council.
I discovered ten days ago on a Monday that I was depressed and didn't go into work that week until Thursday. After visiting the doctor that Monday he asked me some questions and determined I've most likely been suffering from it for years in silence. I felt a lot better by Thursday when I went back to work though, so I'm thinking it was the Citolopran he'd prescribed me. I told the doctor about my weed smoking and he didn't really have a comment although he did not say to stop and I haven't, I've just been smoking slightly less and I've been fine.
Well this has been a short entry but I'll post again soon, I want to check out some others blogs on this site, hopefully the community is quite active! :)

Good start - hope you keep on blogging. I'm onto my third blog now (each on different things), and really enjoy it. Short posts and post frequently (once every 2 or 3 days) worked for me - to begin with I tried to write longer posts and found I was putting myself under too much pressure to write something great each time, and I'd end up blogging nothing at all. Keep it simple and it's a lot more fun imo...

First of all David, welcome to the forums. This is a really active community as far as writing goes, and you'll be hard pressed to find a more active one on the net :)

I just want to say it amazes me how common habitual smokers of weed and dope go on to suffer from depression at some time in their lives. For a long time I used to think of weed as totally harmless, and unlike other substances which are more well-known for being psychologically damaging. But I know quite a few people who smoked weed a lot, and many of them still do, and it seems to me when it's abused, the slide (however temporary) into depression is inevitable. And when I say abused, I mean smoking it the moment you wake up, and as a nightcap before bed. I suppose it's like anything, in moderation weed can be okay, but taken too far it can cause many long-term problems. The important thing is to be careful and not abuse it. Although that's much easier said than being put into practice.

    Hello David!
Glad to hear your feeling a little better. There is a book you might want to look into at your local library. "The Food-Mood-Body Connection" by Gary Null. I have found it eye opening to the perscription era in which we live in today.
    Have a great day!
