Am I making a mistake?

  1. Perhaps I have confused myself over the past few days but everything I have read has told me to be wary of writing in the first person.

Of course my first serious attempt at a novel is in what? First person PoV of course.

The problem is that I feel totally comfortable in this PoV. It is very helpful to me especially when writing dialogue.

So I am going to progress forward in first person. Hopefully this won't undo me.

I suggest you continue in first person. Don't change until you are editing, that way you'll be looking at it not as the Writer, but the Editor and you'll be able to better decided wether or not First POV is better for your narrative than Third POV.

And remember that sometimes you can be the exception instead of the rule;)

since i commented on the original thread of this, or one about your novel.

As Zorell mentioned, the first thing to do is write. The change of pov can be made at any times. I've written pieces completely and changed pov on the re-write. the thing is don't leave it so late that yo have 30k of changes awaiting you. Normally it sorts out whose eyes you are looking through, soon enough. But remember the story first, get the idea out. don't stress out on things that can be edited later for they interfer in the flow.

    best luck to you.
