Back At It Again...

  1. I don't know if anyone will ever read this, but it'll help if I just get the words out. I've started back writing again, but have lost a little confidence in my written work. Thousands of stories lay unfinished on my computer and in notebooks, its like once I start a story I find myself second guessing myself and it's worth.

    Would love some help.

    Much Love,

Not going to say this happens to us all, but in my case, I get what you're saying. Instead of keeping stories on a USB or on my computer, I had, that is, had, the bad habit of deleting them.

The only advice I can give is to accept that you feel that way about a piece of work, then tell that feeling to buzz off and push ahead with the story. Finish it, even if its the "worst thing ever" or whatever your mind tells you. You just might surprise yourself. :)

If you're like me, A, you'll never be happy with a piece. But that's okay. All you can do is listen to your inner voice and work on piece until you reach a place where you feel finished -- not happy with it, but done with it. Let other people be the critics, you have enough to do as writer and rewriter.

Everyone has stories to tell. Thank goodness we live in an age where we're allowed to share our own voices.
Stop second guessing yourself. Write it, and see what happens.

I'll bite. PM me 4pgs (2kw) of a story, finished or not. If not finished, a brief on the next step you want to take, and we'll see...

Or simply post something in the workshop (which probably means you will need to do a couple critiques first, which is good in itself) and let others tell you what they think.
